Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Larsen.
Daniela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was 13 years old, my father gave me a point-and-shoot camera for my birthday. I was inspired to take pictures of everyone and everything. I even became our official family photographer! After I moved to San Diego in my early 20’s, I worked to complete my college degree in marketing and graphic design. On summer breaks, I traveled and photographed places in South America, Indonesia, Africa and Europe. Many years later, I was married and God blessed our family with a beautiful baby girl. I began to use my photographic skills to capture all the unique facial expressions and special moments I never wanted to forget. My quest to preserve these fleeting moments turned me from a casual hobbyist photographer into a professional portrait photographer.
Sereia Photography was born out of my desire to capture every magic moment of my baby girl’s life. Since then, I’ve spent over a decade capturing timeless family portraits, gorgeous expectant mothers, and children reaching every possible milestone. I am always studying and perfecting my skills to give my clients images they will treasure for a lifetime. Photography has become my joy and my passion in life. I am so blessed to be able to do what I do. I eat, sleep, dream, and breathe photography! I get as excited as my clients for their time with me. I spend hours planning, researching, and getting inspired before a session. I feel honored to create beautiful portraiture for many families!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The main struggle for me was having to start over in new cities (two counties) 4 times.
I started my photography business in San Diego in 2010, then moved to Miami in 2011. When things were starting to pick up and business was getting good, our family moved to Rio at the end of 2013. So I created a new website and luckily for me, newborn photography was a new trend in Brazil, so I go super busy right away! Business was great until we had to move back to San Diego again in 2015. By then I was exhausted to start over so I took one year break to regroup and to figure out what direction I wanted to move with my photography. I started my photography business as a newborn photographer in 2010 and now I photograph children of all ages: from newborns to high school seniors. Another area that I am focusing on is headshots and lifestyle photography for entrepreneurs who need good photos for their websites and social media. My business is thriving again and I am so excited to be back in San Diego, where I started. We did a 360 and I acquired so many clients in every city and country I worked and I feel honored to be photographing beautiful families in San Diego and La Jolla again!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sereia Photography – what should we know?
I strive to capture the true beauty in everyone I photograph. Making expectant moms feel beautiful is my passion! When working with families, I enjoy taking both posed and unposed photos. I also love creating fun scenarios for younger children, capturing the innocence of a newborn baby and the excitement of a graduating high school senior. I am obsessed with the details! It’s not just a job to me. I am very passionate about my work!
I am known as a baby, child, maternity and family photographer.
I absolutely adore photographing milestones for babies and Cake Smash photo sessions is another one of my specialties!
I love doing Beauty Portraits of women as well, because it’s been proven that photo sessions have a positive impact on one’s self-esteem.
So, whether it’s for a professional or personal purpose, there’s no age limit or reason not to have beautiful photos of yourself!
What sets me apart from the completion:
- I have tons of experience photographing children (which is not as easy as one think)
- I am very easy going and I get in the zone when photographing families and kids and I am not afraid to be silly to get smiles form the little ones, which parents love!
- Photography for me is art, so I work a lot on the editing to create portraits as art for my clients!
- My rates are very competitive!
