Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Stefani LaFrenierre.
Hi Dr. Stefani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I became a psychiatrist because I wanted to sit with people in their hardest moments and help them find a path back to themselves. After UCLA medical school and residency, plus advanced training focused on trauma, I kept running into the same problem in community settings: the care that works best is often minimal, cash-only, or hard to access. I started Resiliency Mind + Body Medicine in one room with one treatment chair and a simple promise to patients. We would deliver evidence-based psychiatry, innovative interventional care like Deep TMS and Spravato, and mind-body medicine under one roof, and we would do it in a way that works with insurance. What began as a tiny, physician-led practice has grown into a multi-service clinic with locations in Newport Beach and our new San Juan Capistrano site. Our team includes psychiatrists, NPs and PAs, and highly trained nurses and technicians. We pair precise diagnosis and medication management with interventional psychiatry, functional lab work, and practical lifestyle tools. We track outcomes closely, and our internal data show Deep TMS remission rates above 75 percent. The mission is the same as day one: accessible, high-quality mental health care that restores people to their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing about building a patient-first clinic has been smooth. I bootstrapped the practice and wore every hat at the start. Credentialing and contracting took patience. Prior authorizations tested my optimism. When we expanded to a second location, staffing, training, and coverage became a real leadership challenge. I learned to build clear SOPs, hire for values and skill, and invest in a team who can own outcomes, not just tasks. There were also the unglamorous realities of entrepreneurship. Lease negotiations, construction delays, inventory and cash flow, scheduling complexity, denial management, and the daily work of keeping a culture calm and patient-centered when the day gets messy. I am a physician, a founder, and a mom, so protecting my time and creating a team that can operate without me in every room was essential. The wins have come from staying close to the mission, measuring what matters, and choosing people who care as much as I do.
We’ve been impressed with Resiliency Mind+Body Medicine , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Resiliency Mind+Body Medicine is an integrative mental health and wellness clinic focused on treating mind, body, and the spirit. We specialize in evidence-based treatments like Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for depression, PTSD, and OCD, alongside lifestyle and functional medicine services including IV hydration therapy, nutrition support, and personalized wellness coaching. What sets us apart is our integrative approach: combining cutting-edge medical care with holistic support to help patients heal, build resiliency, and thrive. We’re proud of our commitment to empowering patients with the tools to navigate challenges and maintain long-term wellness.
Whether someone is seeking treatment-resistant mental health support, lifestyle optimization, or strategies to improve overall well-being, our team provides compassionate, individualized care to guide them on their journey to greater balance and resilience.
What’s next?
We’re thrilled to see Resiliency Mind+Body Medicine grow, with the opening of our new San Juan Capistrano office and the expansion of our Newport Beach location. Looking ahead, I’m passionate about continuing this momentum by opening additional clinics so more people can access integrative mental health and wellness services in their own communities. My vision is for Resiliency to not only be a place of healing, but also a movement that reshapes how mental health care is delivered: combining innovation, compassion, and evidence-based treatments in a supportive environment. Our focus will always remain on helping patients build resilience, optimize their well-being, and achieve lasting, life-changing results
