Meet India Bee of India Bee Mindfulness

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Bee.

Hi India, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

In the year 2000, I attended my first yoga class at a small studio. I don’t remember the name of the teacher or the poses we practiced, but I will never forget the savasana. As I lay still on my mat, something inside me softened, opened. When I sat up, tears spilled from my eyes—not out of sadness, but from a deep recognition. I had touched something whole, something true. In that quiet moment, I experienced a part of myself untouched by trauma or expectation. It was the beginning of everything.

A year later, after college, I joined the Peace Corps and moved to Bolivia. Living in community with Indigenous people awakened a deeper reverence for simplicity, ritual, and connection to the land. During those years, I practiced yoga on my own—quiet mornings, mountain sunrises, and a deepening awareness that this practice was more than movement. It was medicine.

By 2004, I returned to the U.S. and poured myself into high-achieving, mission-driven work. I eventually found myself leading a multimillion-dollar program supporting women entrepreneurs across Peru. On paper, it looked like success. But the relentless pace was unsustainable. Headaches, heart palpitations, dizzy spells—it all added up. I could no longer ignore that my health, my joy, and my spirit were being sacrificed.

At 34, I did something that terrified me: I quit. I left the title, the salary, and the safety net behind. With the support of a life coach, I clarified my core values. Health—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual—rose to the top. I enrolled in a yoga therapy training program and committed fully to the path of teaching and healing.

It was during that training that I met Amy. “Your name is India!” she said with bright eyes. “If I’d had a daughter, I was going to name her India.” We became soul sisters. She mirrored back to me a version of myself I was still growing into—one who could be expansive, intuitive, and unapologetically spiritual. She taught me to trust my gifts.

Then, on April 10, 2015, I found myself in the depths of heartbreak. That night, both Amy and my mother were fighting for their lives—each in separate ICUs. My mom was battling terminal breast cancer. Amy had fallen critically ill. I went from one hospital to another, holding their hands, praying, waiting.

At midnight, I placed my phone beside my bed, bracing for the worst. I woke to a message from Amy’s phone: “India, Amy died this morning.” I was shattered. A few weeks later, as my mom entered hospice care, I shared the only thing that seemed to ease her fear—yoga nidra. She passed on June 24th. Just before she died, a nurse told me something that cracked my heart open: “I asked your mom what was bringing her the most peace.” She said, ‘Yoga Nidra.’” I wept. The same practice that had healed me… had given her peace in her final days.

These moments anchored my purpose. I continued deepening my studies in somatic healing, trauma-informed care, and the sacred science of rest.

Today, I live and work in San Diego, offering private sessions, community gatherings, sound baths, yoga nidra, and mindfulness mentoring to people seeking clarity, healing, and rest. My work is somatic-based and trauma-informed, drawing from ancient traditions and grounded in modern understanding of the nervous system and healing. Some friends call me their “Rest Coach.”

What began as a personal journey of reconnection is now a sacred offering to others. Each session I guide is rooted in the same reverence I felt that very first day in savasana. I believe that when we heal ourselves, we ripple that healing into our families, our communities, and Mother Earth.

This is more than work—it is my devotion to a more harmonious, just, and peaceful world for all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

The road has definitely not been smooth—and I wouldn’t change that. My path has been shaped by moments of deep alignment, but also by heartbreak, grief, uncertainty, and the kind of life-altering challenges that make you question everything.

These personal struggles deeply shaped my work. I now specialize in guiding people through anxiety, grief, exhaustion, and other challenges using mindfulness, yoga nidra, and sound healing. My own experiences have given me empathy and insight, and I’m committed to helping others reconnect with their inner peace and resilience.

I’ve had to unlearn the idea that healing work must look a certain way. There’s so much noise in the wellness industry—so many promises of instant fixes or flashy branding. I’ve chosen a slower, more authentic path that honors the seasons of life, the power of presence, and the wisdom of the body. That hasn’t always been easy, but it’s what makes my work real and lasting.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about India Bee Mindfulness?

India Bee Mindfulness is rooted in a deep commitment to healing, presence, and reconnection—with ourselves, with one another, and with Mother Earth. I offer mindfulness mentoring, yoga therapy, and sound healing to support individuals navigating anxiety, grief, insomnia, life transitions, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.

One of my specialties is Yoga Nidra, a powerful, ancient practice that allows us to access deep rest, release subconscious tension, and reconnect with our inner wisdom. I’m especially known for helping people create personalized sankalpa—soul-rooted intentions—that guide transformation from within.

I work with people one-on-one in my studio located in Mission Hills, San Diego, and also offer group sessions, immersive experiences, and digital tools that bring mindfulness into everyday life. I’m the creator of the Bee Mindful App and the Bee Mindful Deck, both of which were born out of my desire to make ancient healing tools accessible, modern, and heart-centered.

What sets my work apart is the way I blend mindfulness with a trauma-informed, soulful, and eco-conscious approach. I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all method; I walk alongside my clients as they uncover their own path to healing and resilience. Many people say that I create a space where they feel deeply seen, safe, and gently guided back to their wholeness.

I’m proud that my brand reflects not just what I do, but who I am. It’s rooted in integrity, authenticity, reverence for the Earth, and a belief that when we care for ourselves, we ripple that care outward into our families, communities, and the world.

More than anything, I want your readers to know: you are not broken. You are whole. Sometimes, we just need support remembering. That’s what I’m here for—to hold space, offer tools, and walk with you as you come home to yourself.

What matters most to you? Why?

What matters most to me is remaining devoted to the timeless teachings of yoga and staying connected to my communities of support. Rooted in daily practice, I am continually reminded that these ancient practices hold profound power to heal, awaken, and transform.

My role is to serve as a vessel for this wisdom—sharing these practices not as my own, but as gifts passed down through generations. Through this ongoing devotion, I am honored to contribute to a greater movement of healing and presence that extends far beyond myself.

It is through mindfulness that we can collectively nurture a more compassionate, peaceful, and connected world—one breath, one moment, one mindful step at a time.
