Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Bleakley.
Hi Jennifer , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After years grinding in a corporate events job, I found my way back to an artistic path and eventually Huntress Florals was born. Since starting my floral business in 2013, Huntress has gone through many seasons and continues to evolve.
We’re currently a studio-based florist that specializes in corporate events, weddings, spiritual retreats and floral installations. We service Southern and Central California and are always available for destination events as well. We’ve recently expanded our offerings to include floral design instructional videos (find our free DIY based arrangement using grocery store blooms on YouTube), digital downloads (from business contract templates to a floral mandala coloring book), feminine embodiment movement practices (online and in person) and 1:1 guidance.
Working with flowers has taught me so many life lessons that it only feels natural to incorporate more of my psychology, yoga and embodiment experience into our latest designs and offerings. Whether it’s floral design or embodiment and living a life that feels true to you, I’d be honored to collaborate with you!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Working with nature has reminded me to embrace the messiness of life – and this includes the unpredictability of running a business! The most memorable challenges I’ve encountered range from pricing for profit, managing client expectations, working with a perishable product, keeping up with social media and finding time and energy to balance all of it. The bumps along the road have taught me the most though, so it’s definitely worth it!
As you know, we’re big fans of Huntress Florals. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What sets Huntress apart, aside from our years of experience and signature style of designing beautiful-badass blooms, is the depth of emotion, sensitivity, intuition and embodiment we pour into our creations. From floral design services to embodiment practices, our tie to nature and the rhythms of life are always interwoven into our projects.
The Huntress brand is guided by a few simple principles inspired by flowers – Beauty, Grace, Strength, Resilience and Life. All found within nature’s cycles and ourselves – we just need some gentle reminders sometimes and we’re happy to share that message through our flowers and offerings! It’s an honor to co-create with clients that trust us with such meaningful life events and to share some beauty in the everyday.
How do you define success?
I believe success looks different for everyone. For me, it’s about feeling and expressing love, aliveness and the full range of being a woman and human. I enjoy living simply, finding beauty in the mundane and spending more on experiences and travel vs material things. It’s keeping myself healthy and nourished in all areas (physically, emotionally, spiritually) and getting into nature as much as possible. When I feel grounded in my body, I can hear my intuition and trust myself more than any of the outside noise or chatter that my mind may create. Success is about feeling content in how I move through the world, how others feel around me and allowing myself permission to constantly check in, reassess, learn and evolve as feels best. Embracing all of the messiness of life to shine through and being ok with myself as I was intended to be. No trying to keep up with the Joneses here!
