Meet Jess Moore of 3|SHARE in Carlsbad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Moore.

Jess, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in San Diego County going to elementary school in Leucadia and high school in Fallbrook. I went to San Jose State for my undergrad in Humanities. In 1995 there were few of jobs available for new graduates. It was worse if you had a degree in Humanities. I was lucky to have a friend working on the help desk at Allergan in Irvine. Allergan is a large pharmaceutical company that manufactures Botox. He called me and let me know that his boss was on vacation and that if we moved fast, he could hire me before his boss returned. Despite almost zero technical experience, I was hired and very quickly jumped into the world of complex global deployments of enterprise software.

In the 2000’s, I worked for numbers companies in varied sales roles and rose through the ranks until oversaw the software consulting organization for Sun Microsystems. Sun was acquired by Oracle in 2010 where my big job turned into a much smaller role. I knew it was time for a change.

I saw that Adobe was buying a small content management company and I knew that it was an opportunity start a company focused on Adobe and their emerging digital marketing solutions.

I started 3|SHARE with my Rich Brown, who brought a wealth of technical expertise, in 2011. In 5 year we’ve grown from two founders to over 100 employees operating in globally with offices in the US, Argentina, and England. We were acquired by the Publicis Groupe, the 3rd largest communication group in the world.

We operate as a standalone subsidiary of the Groupe working alongside of their other brands that include Sapient, Saachi & Saachi, and Leo Burnett.

We were named Adobe’s 2016 Partner Of The Year.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a smooth road. We had a clear vision that included an operating model that we felt would result in a five-year exit through acquisition. We put together a model that was singularly focused on Adobe Digital Marketing Solutions and optimized the company for a strategic acquisition by large, multinationals looking to skill up quickly on Adobe. This occurred in 2014 with our acquisition by the French media giant, Publicis Groupe.

Most of our challenges have been the kind of challenges you’d like to see in a growing business. How do we hire the right people fast enough? How do we optimize processes to take us of $10M to 20M? How do we keep the culture of a rapidly growing company?

We’ve found that by keeping things as simple as possible and hiring the right people have mitigated most challenges.

3|SHARE – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
3|SHARE, an Adobe Business Partner, was launched in 2011 by Jess Moore and Richard Brown. The company quickly made its mark as a guru in consulting, training, development, and remote operation management of Adobe Experience Manager. This made other firms in the space comment, “Wow. Look at these guys, huh?” Hence, in 2014, 3|SHARE was acquired by Publicis Groupe, and as part of this renowned agency family, operates as part of Digitas. 3|SHARE is proud to have helped Publicis garner “Adobe Partner of the Year” awards in both 2015 and 2016.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Professional success is loving what you do so much that it doesn’t feel like work. When you love what you do and are passionate about your work then everything else falls into place. Revenue, margin, growth metrics. All of it.

We’ve created a company that has had less than 6 people leave since the day 3|SHARE opened. Everyone here has played a role in building an evolving culture that we enjoy being part of.

Our company mission does a great job of outlining what makes us successful.

“To foster a culture of authenticity and goodwill coupled with a healthy disrespect for the status quo that allows us the individual freedom to delight our customers.”
