Story & Lesson Highlights with Beverly Lindquist

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Beverly Lindquist. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Beverly, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m definitely walking a path but allow myself to wander. If there’s two roads diverging in a yellow wood, I’m going with Robert Frost’s advice and taking the one less traveled. I love that I, through Blossom & Bloom, have the opportunity to change, grow, & development into whatever serves the community best while keeping to our core values and mission as a non-profit 501c3 organization.

If I was hyper focused on one goal and one destination, I’d be setting myself up for failure. To quote J.R.R. Tolkien’s LoTR, “Not all those who wander are lost.” My path may not make sense to folks on the outside looking in but those who get it, really get it and those are my people!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Teaching dance is my superpower. I love the life lessons that are taught within each class and I take my fun-filled job seriously. To empower students to feel confident and strong within their own mind & body is something I do not take for granted and I believe everyone deserves to feel that way!

After working with private studios & recreation centers, I noticed a pattern. In the dance world it’s often expected for students to be entirely consumed by it, leaving little room for other creative pursuits. Dance can be a powerful outlet but it shouldn’t come at the cost of exploring other passions—or break the bank. That’s where it becomes exclusive and inaccessible. That’s what inspired me to create Blossom & Bloom Creative Arts, a safe space where students can move, create, and grow on their own terms.

Right now my focus is 90% dance because that’s what I do best but there are big dreams and plans for Blossom & Bloom as we continue to make our mark in the community.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents are incredibly hard workers. There is no generational wealth in our family and everything was built from the ground up. No safety nets, just a solid work ethic and thrifty behaviors. I can’t even recall a conversation about the importance of hard work. It was just always there and expected to be done with integrity.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Music & movies. Create a playlist, watch a movie, whatever can provide a respite from the real world for a bit.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I try to follow my gut as much as possible. I think people have the ability to dig through the muck and find what’s real if they would just give space for themselves to listen to what their body is already feeling and signaling to the brain. I’ve been in seminars, workshops, & classrooms where the energy shifted and it was so clear to me that this was just a fad or a cash grab not someone or something rooted in reality or based on integrity. When there’s a real foundational shift happening and you’re in line with the messaging, you feel it. That’s the hope, at least. I’ve made mistakes and misread my gut but as long as I’m able to pivot and get back on track, that’s what’s important.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
That comes back to integrity. If you only give your best when you’re receiving praise then it’s time to take a look at your why. Why are you doing what you do? So yes, I try to give everything my best even if it doesn’t get praised. Not everything gets a gold star so sometimes you gotta give it to yourself!
