Check out Deanna Haala’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Haala.

Deanna, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have loved many forms of art since I was very young. Music has been a huge part of me, so much that I taught myself how to sing by mimicking other vocalists growing up. Photography was always something I enjoyed, and I am very thankful I was able to go back to school to learn the craft in more depth and receive a degree in photography. Drawing and Painting in High School gave me a solid foundation for my design work, and I also feel very fortunate that I was able to go back to school and receive a graphic design degree as well. I recently just refurbished one of my paintings from many years ago for my son and it has definitely inspired me to start painting again.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a Vocalist, Photographer and Graphic Designer. Anything that I do, I do with great passion and with the intent to make the listener or viewer feel something. Whether it brings back memories or just makes them happy, is so fulfilling to me. Bringing someone joy is the ultimate gift. Singing a song, taking a photo or creating a design that is pleasing to someone is my inspiration.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
Making a living and having the time to do your art is probably the biggest challenge for artists. I worked a Full-time job, part-time job and sang on the weekends to make ends meet. It was a struggle, but music was a great outlet. As my children got older, I decided it was time to go back to school and finish up a few degrees that have enabled me to work while doing what I love. I still have to work a part-time job along with sing and run my own business. But I love what I do, and I love my family, so it is all worth it.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
The best place for people to see my work is on my website. Facebook and Instagram are a couple of other places. I post my photography, graphic design as well as my music information there. People can support my work by coming out to my shows, which are listed on the band websites and my social media, or they can hire me for a photoshoot or design work.
