Inspiring Conversations with Zekeriya Polat of Vision IT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zekeriya Polat.

Hi Zekeriya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was in corporate life for about 10 years, and I realized I keep repeating myself doing the same thing over and over again. It was kinda doing “O Turn”, in other words, I kept moving but not making any progress. This put me in huge struggle on finding a way out. Then I decided to look outside to get out of my circle “O” in order to make “U” Turn.

I looked for an organization to get together and network for learning from them, and I ended up in Cambridge University. I started my Executive MBA in Cambridge University in 2016. It is where I met great minds, get inspired, and learn from them. Following my graduation in 2018, I was ready to quit my corporate work and leaving my poisonous comfort zone behind.

This is how I started my own start-up in middle of 2019.

We started to construct our business in Kiev / Ukraine. Do you think it was easy? hell no! First challenge we had in Corona at the beginning of 2020 from which we started turn the tide by catching businesses. Second challenge was in 2022 February, when the war broke inside Ukraine. This happened just before we decided to launch our High-Tech business in the US. We were able to adapt ourselves again. We opened our office in Virginia in East Coast, and now planning to open another in West Coast, San Diego.

I was in San Diego on an exhibition in June 5 and 6 exhibiting our system with Intel, partnering and showcasing what we do and how we do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We established our company in Kiev / Ukraine in middle of 2019. By the time, we were almost 6 months in business and development of our tech, Corona started in first half of 2020. We turned it around of this and made a very good return.

When the company was almost 3 years old and ready to open and market ourselves in the US. The war broke out in Ukraine. All our personnel and work trapped in Kiev. We were all shocked and stop working. Some of our personnel fight in the war.

I never stopped believing and continued as I planned, 2 weeks after the war I was in the US and ready to deliver my first speech about our work in Boston / Smart Rail Conference. This is how we returned back to our full steam.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Vision IT?
We are digitalizing the trains for Operation Company for Passenger Comfort and Safety, and cutting their cost on maintenance.

We named our products after what it does:

– Train Tracker / TT;

– Train Tracker and Surveillance / TTS

We can monitor trains on a real-time on our application:

– Trains geo location

– all CCTV inside

– temperature in each carriage

– speed etc.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I quit my well-paid job in which I was in “O” Turn.
