Meet Amanda McPhail of Deck655

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda McPhail.

Amanda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Deck655 was created for our tenants who come to 655 W. Broadway to work each day. The vision for the space was to allow our tenants to escape for either a short break or enjoy lunch by just a short elevator ride away.

Deck655 is a versatile venue that can be customized for social or corporate events. With 8,500 square feet of contemporary indoor/outdoor deck space, it features a spacious indoor game room and outdoor amphitheater style seating for up to 110 guests. Also featured are 50 / 50 doors that open to a 125’ promenade deck with sweeping views from Point Loma, Coronado to East Village. Additional patios with lounge furniture, built-in heating and lighting, bar and surround sound. Our space is Well suited for reception style events.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far so good. We have found that birthday parties, corporate events, weddings, proms and other school functions are enjoyed in the space.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Deck655 – what should we know?
Creative Affairs Inc. is a coordinating company that was established in 2004. Over the past 15 years, Creative Affairs team has developed relationships with highly qualified professionals who inspire confidence and make planning events an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

When given the opportunity to create and manage the Ultimate Skybox at DiamondView Tower 12 years ago this team did not look back. With the experience that the company has gained over the years, they were given another great opportunity to start up deck655 last summer. Managing and operating venues is what this team does best. With a system in place this team makes every event seem like a one of kind and special to all of their clients.

What sets Creative Affairs apart from other companies is that everyone on the team is extremely experienced in not only venue management but also food, beverage and coordinating.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Happiness and loving our job is what we consider success. Helping our clients every step of the way so they are stress-free is our number one priority.
