Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Reams.
Amy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Both my husband Paul and I have art backgrounds. Early in our marriage, we went to A LOT of weddings. We started to notice the things that make up a wedding day- how beautiful people are when they laugh, the emotive glances couples give each other, the way the light hits the veil just right… it seemed so natural to start taking pictures of these things.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In almost ten years, Reams Photo has had periods of easy momentum, and periods where we had to readjust. There was a couple of years in the middle where our personal lives, specifically our wild adoption process with few concrete dates, made it difficult to schedule weddings. During this season, our family photography side grew. Our own joys and struggles in parenting made it easy to connect with young families, who often felt insecure about the way their messy-haired, curious and busy children might sit perfectly in front of a camera. In the same way, I think being married has made us better wedding photographers. We know intimately the beauty and struggle of marriage and can help connect our couples better to each other and the lives they are living.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Reams Photo – what should we know?
Reams Photo is a wedding and portrait photography company. I’m especially proud of how we connect and disarm our clients. Being in front of the camera can be so stressful! There’s pressure to look beautiful and seem wonderfully connected with our significant others and/or children. The thing is, that we are all ALREADY beautiful and connected. We get to help you see it. Regardless of how messy and chaotic the session might seem or how many of the wedding details came together perfectly, our hope is that our clients come away feeling uplifted and more connected to the people they love. That they look back on the pictures and feel nostalgic for the life they’re currently living and more in love with themselves and the people around them.
