Today we’d like to introduce you to Becki Freed.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started taking photos years ago when my son was a baby, and I fell in love with it. For years I always brought a camera with me where ever I went, everyone who knew me just expected it. I started with a point and shoot camera and began taking photos at the events that I would attend. My friends loved them and kept telling me that I should do it full time. I started taking photos part time for a few local magazines and then I invested in some nice equipment and began studying the art of photography even more.
A few years ago I decided to go full time, leaving behind the corporate world that I had been a part of for over 20 years. I now specialize in Personal Branding photography for entrepreneurs, and I also cover a few charity events for some local magazines. My next goal is to have my own photography studio in my home.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was not smooth at all. I not only had to take many classes to become more advanced in photography, but I also had to learn to run a business, and I was newly married when I started. It was quite an adjustment period but with a lot of studying and determination (bordering on obsession ha ha) I have continued to grow and overcome the challenges and I’m hooked!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Becki Freed Legacy Photography – what should we know?
Originally I was known for covering events, from local fashion shows, charity events and galas to smaller private parties. I even covered a few weddings when I began but I quickly discovered my niche – my love for personal branding photography! My tagline is “Signature Lifestyle Images to Elevate Your Brand”, and I specialize in providing high-end branding photos to entrepreneurs who understand the impact that professional photography has on branding and business growth.
I work with a full team of experts to provide a top-notch experience and stunning photos that showcase my clients and their businesses in a unique and captivating way. I also work with a local luxury magazine to offer my clients the chance to have beautiful ads and articles about their businesses in order to increase their brand exposure in the finest of San Diego communities!
I am a member of The Professional Photographers of America and I have a lot of well-known clients, listed here on my website if you scroll down on the home page: www.beckifreedlegacyphoto.com
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband has been a huge support through all of this, going with me to many of the events I covered, setting up the lighting equipment, and even bringing a camera a few times and taking photos with me to help me cover the larger corporate events.
I have some great makeup artists, hair stylists, personal wardrobe stylists, lighting assistants, etc., and together we give clients an experience that they won’t forget! Some of my clients use me regularly for their blog images and we have become good friends. I absolutely love everything about this business!
