Meet Chiquita Dennie of 304 Publishing Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiquita Dennie.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chiquita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been working as a filmmaker, and screenwriter for over ten years.

I started my career after graduating with a degree in Film and Tv production in Arizona. My love for filmmaking led me to, write, produce and direct my debut award-winning short film “ invisible.” As I continued to pursue my goals, love of reading continued to grow and became a new challenge for me as a writer.

The original screenplay I wrote in 2005 became my debut Amazon Bestselling novel “Antonio and Sabrina Struck In Love series.” This has lead me to have five books on sale and recently picked up by Wanting to build my career as an author and help other indie writers I ended up starting my company 304 Publishing, which the name comes from the street address I grew up on in Memphis TN.

Also, started a Podcast to help support small business owners called “Moscato and Tea” and we’ve just hit our one year anniversary and things have taken off, and my life has gotten so busy. Funny how this all started with a friend saying to me why not just invest in yourself. The support from friends and family is amazing, and so much more is coming from my publishing and film company this year.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been bumpy on some days because I’m running three different businesses and giving each company the same amount of time and energy can be difficult sometimes.

Having more time for networking, dealing with sore wrist on my writing hand has slowed me down. Finding more avenues toward getting the same amount of support from publishing industry toward Women of Color authors can be difficult to deal sometimes, but having worked in entertainment field strengthened my motivation to continue to strive to make my own path and not wait for someone to open the door.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
304 Publishing Company showcases indie and established authors in genres of romance. We specialize in Fiction (Contemporary, African American, Interracial, Erotic, and Paranormal Romance). NonFiction books in Beauty, and Poetry. Known for writing Headstrong women in our books, with a splash of sassy, funny, and witty dialogue.

Most proud of how we’ve grown over the past year since our debut in September 2017 to build a brand that has surpassed my expectations and we’ve received tremendous support from followers.

What were you like growing up?
I’m incredibly goofy, funny, with a laid back personality. I hung around mostly my best friends in Memphis, along with my brother and cousins.  My mom raised my brother and I to always have each other’s back and he’s always been there for me. I was apart of different clubs in school, mostly I stayed either working to try and afford my first car at 16 and buy my own clothes or writing a new idea down for a script. After high school and going off to college to live with my Aunt that taught me all about owning a business and having your own. I was able to expand my love of filmmaking, and create something that’s lasting forever.
