Today we’d like to introduce you to Helena Torres.
Helena, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My life as an entrepreneur… growing up very poor and coming from a hard-working family my dream was to have a job where I could be very successful while making lots of money. As I got older, this dream became a routine, it’s because lifeless. I wanted something that didn’t feel like work, something for my soul, something to love but an 8-5 was not it anymore and all I knew how to do was work hard. Well, that wasn’t a good dream anymore. I started to dig into my soul to find my passion, to find what I loved, to find fulfillment. MissAmores Boutique started in 2017. The name was chosen very carefully to represent what I love most, my two sons. MissAmores meaning “My Loves” was started with an idea that one day I would tell this story and here I am. With a built website, business cards and a lot of enthusiasm I started modeling my own accessories and building my own brand. As my IG following started growing, I did too. Shipments were being mailed out every time a new item was posted and that only built on the idea of becoming a successful entrepreneur, which is when I decided to expand. MAB Lash was then born.
In August 2018, I took a step that changed my life. I started this brand of Lash Extensions with the motto of “Making the world beautiful one lash at a time.” Rapidly, I met many people and because extremely busy with clients raging about my lashes. My life became a dream in the process. Working late nights to accommodate clients and taking no days off has been life. I have never been so tired yet so fulfilled. I have been very blessed to meet a lot of amazing souls! Lashing and now training others to do what I do is what I love to do. My younger clients categorize me as an “inspiration to the new age” and I couldn’t be prouder. Multiple sources of income have now given me the opportunity to proudly say that in 2020 a new location in North County will be opening to fulfill your cravings of lashing and accessorizing! Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been bumpy. Without struggles, there would be no lessons. Having to divide my time as a mother, wife, friend, daughter and entrepreneur has not been easy. If it wasn’t for my supportive kids, husband and amazing clients I don’t know if this would have been possible.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city has great potential for the upcoming business, especially in the beauty industry. We have to remember that many of these services are offered in a wide variety in places like Los Ángeles but not here in San Diego yet. With that said, the population is high here and almost everyone wants to look beautiful, so why not help them out by offering a variety of services? We all have to support small businesses to help this city and the entrepreneurs in it grow.
