Meet Jason Sintetos of Oceanside Paddleboard in Oceanside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Sintetos.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jason. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Originally Greg Sintetos, my father took ownership of Oceanside Paddleboard in 2015, formerly owned by George Hood. It quickly lived up to the “family business” expectations, as it routinely took the help of many family members to fulfill the paddle boarding demand. On a busy day, you can find my father, Greg out on the dock giving lessons to paddleboards. My grandfather, “Pappa” has been the shops “handyman”, as he’s helped design and creative ways to make our daily shop functions run smoother. During the weekends I would spend most of my time at the shop helping my father. I really enjoy the opportunity that not too many get to work down by the water all day. I quickly fell in love and enjoyed meeting many locals and vacationers from all around the world. In 2017 I took ownership of operations and marketing, and now run the shop seven (7) days a week with the support of my family behind me.

I have a family of my own and have already started teaching the ropes to my son, Jaycob who is three years old. He enjoys showing mom that he helps me load the boards on the cart, puts them in the water, and rinses them off. He’s our little mascot, and he’s made many new friends at the shop. I am looking forward to handing the reigns over to him one day.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a great pleasure owning and operating the shop. I’ve been more than blessed to admit that it’s been quite a rewarding journey. Being a family-owned business, there were sometimes that hours may not have been the most accommodating to customers. Since making the shop my full-time priority, the shop’s customers have increased in volumes. I am there seven days a week from 8:00 am until the very last paddle boarder comes in. Scheduling an appointment for the same day, or for months out has never been easier. I’ve dedicated a lot of time to step up the advertising and am pleased to say that you’ll find our name and shop information (and a discount) in several major hotel’s informational flyers that are handed out to every guest. Our flyer is also displayed at every informational booth around the harbor and pier, as well.
