Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Pyszkiewicz.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Born and raised in Southern California, Kelly is best known for her functional wood art/frames and realistic artwork inspired by her travels and appreciation for nature. She found her interest in art while drawing anime style cartoons with her childhood friends and in her 3D design mixed media sculpture classes where she discovered the use of tools and mixed mediums.
After finishing her Master’s in Business, she began teaching small business college courses to young adults where she reconnected with her drawing hobbies through entrepreneurial lessons that focused on finding your role through current interests and skills. Kel began honing her interests and skills into realistic drawings which grew onto working with wood to frame her artwork, thus, evolving into functional wood art where createthingseveryday was born.
At createthingseveryday, each piece of wood is handpicked at local Southern California lumber yards where special attention is taken in selecting the best quality available, making the result of each handmade piece unique. All items are made by Kel at her shop space in Newport Beach, CA.

Specializes in:
– Oil paintings: nature scenes inspired from long hiking trips at locations such as Mt. Whitney and photos of flowers from my succulent garden or anywhere I can catch a good photo of plants/flowers.
– Photo realism pencil portraits/colored pencil drawings: inspired from photos taken from my succulent garden.
– Wood framing: to frame my artwork and collab with other local artists to help design and frame their artwork.
– Functional wood art: inspired by the business side of myself, creating new functional items to help solve problems. Ex: my docking stands serves as a purpose for storing and charging all your tech/personal accessories while adding customization based on the customer’s preference such as wood burning a birthday constellation. I stay competitive by implementing my own wood stain mixes to allow for more color options.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success is not about winning all the time – it’s a learning and growth process. It’s about doing your best and not beating yourself over things not going your way. There is no failure – only gained wisdom. Success is remembering that work and passion must be balanced and that there is a difference between your needs and wants. Most importantly, success is happiness and happiness is growth – if you’re not happy then you’re not growing to become successful.
