Meet Sasha West of Sasha Lynne West Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha West.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been very observant, aware of my surroundings, and really appreciated thoughtful design. I went to school specifically for interior design and day one knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. After college, I ditched the east coast for San Diego and was so thankful to get my first gig at Safdie Rabines Interiors.

I quickly gained a strong foundation in design and construction. After being offered an opportunity to work internally with an innovative retail development company in D.C., I moved back cross country where I delivered cost-effective design direction to emerging brands, passionate makers, and successful entrepreneurs.

From there, I transitioned over to a quickly expanding Mediterranean fast casual that started out of DC and is now nation-wide. I helped them to establish the design and kit of parts that allowed them to quickly scale while keeping design at the heart of the brand.

Ready to explore and continue to grow, I moved back to San Diego to focus on myself, my family, and my own business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, more like valleys and peaks. Paying rent, deciphering taxes, relocating, defining what I do, targeting and then getting clients. Really every day it is something new. Always a learning process. Trying to figure out how to manufacture some of my products – if anyone knows anything or wants to collaborate?!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sasha Lynne West Design – what should we know?
I build elevate and scale brands through the power of thoughtful and innovative design thinking. Partnering with companies, firms, and agencies to assist in business growth through elevated spatial design, and strategic branding.

The fact I am most proud of as a company, is I started, without having any idea where to start, and one year later I am still here. I fail fast, hard, and often, then reiterate.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Can make something from nothing.
