Conversations with the Inspiring Juliana Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Lewis.

Juliana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mother grew up watching my grandmother make bead and crystal workpieces. I grew up watching my mother make beadwork. Now, my kids watch me make bridal headpieces out of crystals and beads. I started J Lewis Bridal LLC because I wanted to continue the craftsmanship of the women in my family who inspired my creativity. I want to share my love and passion for bead, crystal, and rhinestone work and make every bride that buys my pieces feel extra beautiful.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started other ventures that just crumbled and never really went far. In fact, all of them put tension and stress between my husband and I, but this one is different. Thankfully, J Lewis Bridal LLC has been smooth so far, that’s because I truly believe it is what my calling is. My advice for women on starting a journey is first to find the right journey. It is perfectly fine to try things and fail, but move forward. One must get up and try something else until the true calling is found. Never be afraid, ashamed, and discouraged because one thing didn’t work, you always have tomorrow to try, to grind, and to work!

What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I am a bridal headpiece designer and I hand-make all of my pieces, including soldering and cutting metal. I work with rhinestones, crystals, metal, wire, and various fabrics to create my headpieces. My specialty in bridal headpieces brings me so much joy, comfort, and peace when I am creating my pieces. I am greatly proud of J Lewis Bridal LLC because I put my heart, soul, and passion into every piece I make to ensure that my energy is put into the pieces for the bride to feel beautiful and appreciate the item she just purchased.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
My advice for finding a mentor is to reach out to individuals who you think would suit best with your personality, professionalism, and moral beliefs. Over time, the right mentor will be set aside from all the other “contacts” who half-responded to your emails/calls. I also believe that it is not necessarily “a mentor” but rather multiple “models” who can teach a different lesson, so don’t be afraid to reach out to those people.
