Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Amini.
Nikki, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was working as a cocktail waitress in 2005 when I decided that I needed to get a more long term career. I never finished college but loved real estate. I began in the mortgage loan industry in 2005 and did amazing and during that time, I obtained my real estate license with no intentions of ever selling homes. In August of 2007, the implosion happened and there were no longer any loans to obtain so I used my real estate license to do short sells. The distressed real estate market was quite sad and not a fit for my upbeat personality so after my daughter Isabella was born in 2012 I went into traditional real estate. In January of 2016, I thought that leading a team of woman would be a great fit for me but after a few years, it was taking a lot of time and money and my income went down. In January of 2019, I began a re branding process for myself. As a Mom, you only have so many hours in the day to make as much money as possible so I have focused more on personal production and teamed with a designer and together we bring so much to the table for our clients. I have also moved more into the luxury market but still love my military and first time home buyers. They say if you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life and after lots of trials and tribulations in many different arenas, I have found that real estate as just myself and my design partner is the right fit for me and my family.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. The implosion made it very hard for everyone in my industry and most of the people ran for the hills but I knew that if I could make it through the hard times then when the market recovered I would be in a perfect position and that is exactly what happened. I also spent three years trying to build a team but at the end realized that it just isn’t for me in the current season of my life. Some people do amazing with teams, I am just not one of those people. It took me until my current age of 41 to figure it out and I am still learning every day.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As a real estate professional, it really means that you need to work and be available seven days a week and at all hours of the day. If you aren’t available, there is someone else that is. Buying and selling a home is a very emotional process and there is a lot of hand-holding but I truly love people and love being part of this process. My clients become clients and friends for life. I am very proud of my rebranding and my partnership with Autumn Noelle who is a well-known celebrity designer. You always need to bring something else to the table and having a designer who can help bring clients visions to life is amazing and is also great at bringing that listing to the next level so clients get the top dollar for their home. What sets us apart is that to our core we are great people who lead with our hearts and love helping people and will really go the extra mile for our clients.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I grew up in Poway as the oldest of three daughters. My Mom and Dad both worked very hard to provide a great life for my sisters and I and they are the oneswho instilled in me my great work ethic and taught me that if I wanted something I needed to be prepared to put in the work to obtain it. I also give credit to my amazing husband Mehdi Amini who has been my biggest supporter and mentor since day one!
