Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Turner.
Kylie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always felt a strong need to have the ability to express myself creatively in my career and combine my personal interests and passions with a fierce work ethic. I wanted to build myself into a resource that local, San Diego based companies felt they could come to and trust for creative direction. As a freelance creative director, I can provide my clients with unbiased, genuine advice and guidance no matter what category they fall into. Growing up in San Diego, I feel that I have a strong grasp on the direction that many industries are heading in this unique, thriving city of ours. Working with small to mid-sized companies, I’ve found that they are often the most ingenious and forward thinking as they have nowhere to go but up. Most recently, I have had the pleasure of working with Luca, a brand new gem of a restaurant located inside The Guild Hotel in downtown San Diego.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any freelance position, building trust and rapport is key. Building a brand that grows with the company rather than confining it to a single arena should be at the forefront of every decision made.
Please tell us about your business.
Before anything else, I am a story teller. Creative direction is something so near and dear to my heart, and I thrive off of being able to mold a small part of San Diego’s start up and the small business community. I specialize in digital media management, paid advertising, and content creation. I am most proud of the unique approach I take to each client I work with because no two are the same and there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success lies in the ability to see real, tangible results from your efforts. Whether that be customers to a restaurant, members to a yoga studio, or clients to an art gallery. Success is in recognition and results.
