Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Gonzalez.
Hi Eric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got my start via following my passion of playing soccer. I was a full-time employee working for Verizon at the time, along with being a full-time college student. On top of trying to manage a stressful school and work load, I managed to find a way to become a student athlete during pre-season. Nearing the beginning of the season, we were told the different times we would practice, and compete. Additionally, this became a huge issue for me as I was very limited by my two days off from work, along with attending my classes. After quickly realizing that I would have to pick either competing in college, or keeping my full-time job, I decided that Verizon was always going to be there. All in all, I decided to leave the company in order to keep competing, but during this time I was researching different ways of creating a source of income for myself. It didn’t take me longer than two weeks to find a way for me to create a source of income by following my passion. I brainstormed ideas, and finally arrived with keeping it simple- starting a soccer jersey store, which I launched three days prior to the start of the 2018 World Cup. The timing was perfect, and within 24 hours of launching my site, my business became an overnight success that has led me more profitable and sophisticated projects.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
By no means has this been a smooth road. At the time I was not equipped with the proper knowledge to run a business efficiently. However, I do believe that this journey has taught me much more than all the years I spent in college. I quickly stumbled over many problems such as learning accounting, how to set up a merchant account, how to start an LLC, and etc. All in all, going through the bumps has made me very knowledge in terms of starting a small business, growing a small business, and scaling a small business. I believe that college fails to prepare you for the real world. In college we are quizzed on hypothetical scenarios, but in the world of business you learn from hands on experience and trial and error.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
In short words, I run and operate an e-commerce company that builds, markets, and scales many online stores from scratch. I also teach and mentor entrepreneurs on how to get started in e-commerce whether it is full-time, or part-time as a side hustle. I teach everything from the daily operations of the business, to driving traffic using digital marketing and everything in between. My system has been proven to work time and time again scaling multiple brands past 25k per month in revenue all from the comfort of my home. My most proud brand and project at this time would be my first brand- Jersey Loco as was my very first business, and the business that gave me the tools and knowledge to start more difficult businesses. Helping others start and scale their own small businesses also led me to my current project- opening a digital marketing company that helps small business owners double their revenue by more leads, sales, conversions, etc. through driving traffic using Facebook and Google Ads, along with increasing online exposure and awareness. Here I plan to offer every essential service a business needs including: Paid Social Media Ads Paid Search Marketing Website Development Logo Design and Branding Organic Social Media Growth and Exposure SEO.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
My first year in college I went in thinking I was going to go to medical school after graduation. Shortly after my first semester, I realized it was something I didn’t want to pursue, but I had no idea what I wanted to study. During this time, a friend of mine recommended me a very popular book named Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. To this day I firmly believe picking up that book was the turning point of my life, and I highly encourage everyone to read the book, whether studying business or not. I believe this book definitely helped me and many others think differently and opened my mind to believe that I can obtain any goal I set for myself.
