Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayne Wells.
Hi Shayne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I could remember, I was always infatuated in the creative world. Whether it was photography, social media, fashion, I was always interested in learning and creating. Fortunately for me, I had an older sister to look up to who was heavily involved with fashion to the point where she created her own fashion blog, which started out as, Brikmoda. For majority of my late teens and early ’20s, my sister Kelsey lived in Los Angeles. Lucky for me, I was constantly visiting her, exploring the city and experiencing everything it had to offer.
Once I got into college, I realized the digital world was something I could be a part of, and with my sister’s creative drive, knew we could eventually do something together. Over the last few years, my sister developed her fashion blog Brikmoda and ultimately turned it into the creative firm we know today. While she was focusing on events, specifically weddings, I dipped into the social side of the business. I knew from an early age I wanted to create something of my own and create my own rules, so what better way to do it than with your sister? After I finished my master’s program in new media and marketing, I took the risk and decided to launch the social side of the creative firm called Brikmoda Social. Today, I’m working with multiple clients in Ventura County, Los Angeles and Seattle, Washington and couldn’t be more happy with how Brikmoda has evolved. I’m endlessly grateful for my sister paving the way for me and being the best business partner I could ask for. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for her constant support, guidance and partnership.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like anything worth having or working for, it hasn’t been the smoothest road. Social Media is a competitive industry, and not only was I competing with myself, constantly striving to achieve better, but I also competed with everyone else. I battled with how I can make my services unique, how I can connect with my clients in a different way and what I could offer that other people couldn’t. I also struggled with the long nights of constant work and debated the outcome of everything when I first started creating the business. But just like life, you’re going to consistently have ups and downs until the path eventually smooths out. That doesn’t mean I won’t run into bumpy roads in the future, but I finally came to terms that I would much rather take on the challenges and overcome them, rather than be afraid of them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Brikmoda Social?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ve had the pleasure of calling San Diego my home and will forever have a special place in my heart. From La Jolla to Sunset Cliffs, there’s never a bad view of California’s coast here. I adore the diversity of this city and everything that comes with it, including Ocean Beach’s farmers market. Also, if you haven’t been to Revolution Roasters coffee shop, what are you waiting for? It’s hard to say what I like the least about San Diego, but if I we’re to change any minor thing about it, I wish all of my favorite things we’re a little closer to one another!
