Rising Stars: Meet Lisa Pedace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Pedace.

Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am an actor and comedian. I remember writing and directing my first comedy skit in fourth grade. In sixth grade, I produced and directed the elementary school talent show. No adult wanted the job, so they asked me to do it. (I said yes to anything that got me out of class for any amount of time.) I let everyone who auditioned be in the show. On the downside, the show was three hours long. On the upside, the auditorium was standing room only. At age 11, I had already figured out the “bringer show.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. It’s been full of potholes. The biggest was that, when it came time to go to college, my folks didn’t support the idea of a theatre major. And they were footing the bill. I ended up with an undergraduate degree in American Studies and a graduate degree in English. Then I moved to Italy to avoid law school. I got back to acting in my thirties, but by then, there was a lot of stuff stuck in my head. It has taken a while to get it all out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the moment, I am most known for my social media accounts (TikTok and Instagram). They are full of short comedic skits I create. That was a blessing from the pandemic for me. I had never embraced social media before, but I hopped on, and it has been a hoot.

What I’m most proud of is my determination. Craig Ferguson opened his final Late Late Show with a song from Dead Man Fall called Bang Your Drum. I stopped banging my drum for a while, and I’m never going to do it again.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Long before apps and podcasts, there was the most awesome magazine called Mad, and I grew up on that.
