Meet Jessica Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Moreno.

Jessica Moreno

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In September 2022, on one of those evenings when my 11-month-old finally fell asleep at a decent hour, I stumbled upon The Mom Walk Collective on Instagram, thanks to Jamie’s post. Without overthinking it, I applied to be an ambassador and soon found myself planning our very first walk on October 6. At the start, only two moms joined in, and that’s how the Chula Vista crew kicked off.

Jump ahead to today. We’ve hit over 1000 followers on Instagram, and our weekly walks have turned into lively get-togethers with 5-20 awesome moms. We recently celebrated our one-year anniversary on October 6, 2023, with over 45 lovely moms and their kiddos at our free event. We were also blessed to team up with Fit4Mom and partnered with 30 local businesses to celebrate our community.

This Mom Walk journey has been a mix of spontaneity and purpose, turning a casual Instagram scroll into a safe and fun community. As we keep growing, our goal remains simple: providing a friendly space for moms from all walks of life. Join us on Instagram @TheMomWalkCo_ChulaVista, and we’re super excited to have you join our walks. Here’s to making connections and building a community that’s all about the heart of motherhood!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating academia, family, and entrepreneurship as a college student with a son demands a lot of balance and responsibilities. My primary focus is ensuring the well-being of my son and spending quality time with my family. I’m pursuing my business degree and plan on graduating by 2025, all while actively participating in the Society of Human Resource Management at California State University San Marcos.

Through my involvement with The Mom Walk Collective, I’ve forged meaningful connections with brands such as !MPROV, DaCosta Verde, JuneCare, Love&Fit, and more. While the joy of partnering with these brands is undeniable, it also entails its fair share of work and responsibility. Each day, I dedicate hours to manage and organize walks and partner up with sponsors, striving to create an exciting experience for the mom community.

Lucky to have my family and friends by my side, I’m always navigating the balancing act of life—family, school, and community. It’s a journey with ups and downs, but I appreciate every step. My commitment is to blend together academics family, and building a community, making it an exciting adventure.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m currently on the path to earning my degree in Business Administration Management/Entrepreneurship at California State University San Marcos. Along the way, I’ve gained valuable experience, contributing to the front desk and warehouse operations at Cleto Reyes USA. Additionally, my journey has included ventures into professional photography, active participation in networking events, and hands-on involvement in sales within grocery markets. Each experience has played a role in shaping my professional journey, blending academic pursuits with practical skills and a diverse range of roles.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me? Simple – soaking up precious moments with my son, partner, and family. I’m all about embracing those close connections and building meaningful relationships. Life’s an adventure, and I’m excited about growing both personally and professionally.

I’ve seen the hustle it takes to build from scratch in a family business and my goal? Finding that sweet spot as an entrepreneur while still rocking the mom, partner, daughter, and sister roles.

  • The Mom Walk Collective focuses on providing a worry-free space available for all. I try my best to provide the majority of events for free. While all of this work is voluntary, sometimes I need to pay for space rental, decorations, materials, etc.. So, some events will have a small fee to participate. My hope is for all moms in our community to feel empowered, and free to join us whenever they are available. With nap times, work schedule, or running errands, I try my best to schedule walks to fit every mom’s needs.
