Inspiring Conversations with Jesse Chavez of The Pacific Beach Allstars

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Chavez.

Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I personally come from a very humble immigrant background that I am proud of. My parents worked hard to provide and I always took any free opportunity my school would offer to immerse myself in dance or cheerleading.

I started at a local cheerleading club named Cheerforce San Diego. They are very well known and successful. I was afforded the very generous opportunity to have financial assistance through them. This is what was the catalyst to my interest in pursuing a career in opening up my business.

I began coaching there and then gained some coaching experience at the local afterschool programs in the Lemon Grove area. After that I was able to coach at some of the local high schools and really establish my own roots. Some time later I got the opportunity to open my business by sub leasing from a small gymnastics space in Pacific Beach- hence my business name the “Pacific Beach Allstars”.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I unfortunately was a part of the businesses that had to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. That was a huge setback in our momentum. It was so impactful that it actually took about 2-3 years to get back on steady ground. That event alone was a trickle effect into a few other smaller issues that caused a strain in myself and my business partners mental state.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Pacific Beach Allstars?
We are much more than a cheer gym; we are a community built around mentorship, growth, accountability, and creating life-changing experiences for young athletes and their families. Our organization focuses on All Star Cheerleading, tumbling, athlete development, and leadership training, but at the core of everything we do is helping athletes become confident, resilient, and empowered both on and off the mat.

What truly sets us apart is the culture we have intentionally built. We believe success is not just measured by banners or trophies, but by the type of people our athletes become through the process. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and genuinely cared for. Families who join our program often say they immediately feel the difference — the energy, the accountability, the sense of belonging, and the personal investment our staff has in every athlete.

Brand-wise, we are most proud of the reputation we have built within the San Diego cheer community as a program that genuinely cares. We are proud of the relationships we have with our families, the opportunities we create for our athletes, and the standard of excellence we continue to raise year after year. We are also incredibly proud of the culture our athletes help create — one that values hard work, sportsmanship, leadership, and team-first mentality.

Beyond training, we are passionate about building experiences and partnerships that make our athletes feel part of something bigger. Whether through community involvement, collaborations with local businesses, themed events, or innovative branding within the sport, we are always looking for ways to create memorable experiences for our families and elevate what an All Star program can be.

At the end of the day, we want people to know that the Pacific Beach Allstars is a place where athletes are seen, valued, and inspired to become the best versions of themselves. We are building more than strong teams — we are building confident young leaders and a community that feels like family.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I do think a lot of people are surprised about my background or upbringing. Ive been told that the way I carry myself does not necessarily reflect the way I was brought up.
