Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhea Ashcraft.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rhea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a daughter of a line of artists my Grandmother oil painter and my mother watercolorist and me a modern abstract painter. I believe my art chose me. As a child, I always had my hands in some kind of art project, that saved me from issues that arose from childhood and feeling alone. After years of coming into my adult years using my art as a healing modality. (Art does save one’s spirit). I found my voice through my art and sharing my gifts with the world.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Its said with challenges and growth one finds their true heart… I believe that… As I was building my craft and learning more about who I am and what kind of artist I wanted to be. I challenged myself in enrolling in art festivals in Arizona and California.
Amongst some of the shows, you painted in person for the audience, at one event an observer mentioned that my baby daughter could paint that. Hearing those words broke my heart. After a few days of self-reflection, I pulled up my bootstraps and leaned into my commitment and passion of being an artist. Which I am currently loving and enjoying to this day.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rhea Ashcraft Art – what should we know?
I have thought of many different business names that would reflect me as a painter, healer, and plant-based chef.
With that being said I am always lead back to my name Rhea Ashcraft Art. Using color theory and layering techniques, adding gems stones and crystals in my work for depth and enhanced energy modality gives my work introspective and curiosity to each piece. I work mostly with designers and commissioned clients to create an individual, original piece of artwork for their sacred space.
What I am most proud of or which gives me the most amount of joy is on installation day and the clients face of happiness and wonder, as they study the painting and find many different images that I haven’t seen yet. Most of the images that appear are images of animals and different faces, throughout the piece of art.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have been blessed with many supporters through friends and family all who believed in my craft, through positive feedback and purchasing pieces for their own spaces from the very beginning stages of my process.
Margot Waller Art is still a mentor to me, she showed me many techniques and allowed me to be me and continue on my path.
