Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Singer.
Hi Todd, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my work in family mediation in 2018 after graduating from law school at UC Davis. I moved to San Diego to be close to my family. I completed mediation training under Woody Mosten and began working directly with clients soon after. Despite a brief sojourn into litigation, I have been working in mediation ever since.
I do this work because I find fulfillment from helping people through a difficult time. I help give my clients a degree of control to hopefully make it a more manageable process for all parties and their families.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to where I am today has been filled with learning experiences and a brief sojourn into litigation. I returned to mediation because I feel it is where I am best able to help clients achieve their goals for themselves and their children.
My current challenge is completing my certification as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) which should be completed within the next month or so. I am pursuing this certification so that I can better assist my clients with their goals.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a family mediator specializing in helping clients through the divorce process in a way that saves them time, money, and stress. I help clients structure their divorce agreement in ways that are best for them and their children without ever having to step foot in a courtroom. I also work with clients in a wide variety of family disputes like child custody and support. Additionally, I work with clients to negotiate and draft prenuptial and post-marital agreements.
I am best known by my clients for my calm demeanor as I help them through a difficult time in their lives. I think this sets me apart and is something I am proud of.
I work with clients either virtually or at my office in Del Mar/Solana Beach.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I am an avid reader of science-fiction, fantasy, and history. Some of my favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Adrian Goldsworthy. I strongly believe in the power of literature and learning to help us empathize with a wide variety of life experiences.
I tend to listen to history podcasts while cooking, cleaning, and gardening which are all things I find joy in. Spending time on the things that bring me joy help me bring my best self to my work.
