Community Highlights: Meet Fabian Guzman of Ocean Beach Pallet Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabian Guzman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our wood furniture business began in David Jauregui’s backyard out of passion for using reclaimed wood and turning it into beautiful functional furniture for personal use. When David was in between jobs he sold his personal belongings and his furniture. His pallet style furniture sold immediately after listing on craigslist and facebook. Ocean Beach Pallet Co was born in 2015 and quickly became a top-seller on Etsy. Now our Etsy shop has over 3400 reviews on Etsy with many of them being five-stars.

Throughout the years we have focused on handcrafting durable, customizable, made to order furniture that will arrive to a customer’s home fully built. Our customers tell us what their needs are and often tell us the design want. We make their vision come to life.

We are proud to produce handmade furniture within the USA and deliver furniture that will be long lasting. We’ve been in business for 10 years and we’ve made everything from Vinyl Record Storage & Record Player Stands, Coffee Tables, Dining Tables, Bookcases & Bookshelves, to Nightstands, End Tables and many more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a business owner you wear many hats and you are constantly reinventing yourself and your business. It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it. As Alex Hormozi states, “Everything worth doing is hard. And the more worth doing it is, the harder it is”.

The hardest part is showing up everyday consistently and delivering. You can’t fake the funk. Sometimes you don’t feel like it, but that doesn’t matter, you do it anyway. You just have to take action. Start small, one step at a time and from there you develop and modify to improve.

Our most recent challenge has been moving locations to a warehouse 3x times the size. While the process was ongoing we had two locations, dealing with permits, remodel, double the rent & utitlies, lots of orders, and eventually moving into our new location. We stayed focus and accomplished this over 5 months of grueling work.

Now we’re settled into our new location and have +5,000 square foot facility. We also have a small showroom where our clients can come and see our furniture in person and discuss their needs. We are also growing our tight-knit team and look forward to continue growing at a responsible pace.

We handcraft wooden furniture for music lovers! Our specialty is helping vinyl record collectors safely store and display their cherished record collections in a functional and practical way. We are like “build-a-bear” for furniture. We can make any unit at any size, depth, height. Our clients can customize their unit by adding dividers, shelves, colorful chevron tops, different style/sized legs, and doors. We are really good at building long lasting furniture that arrives to our customers’ homes fully built (they just need to attach the legs).

With our furniture you know it’s going to last you many years, they are heavy duty, you don’t need to assemble. Furthermore, we offer free shipping!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Although our name is Ocean Beach Pallet Co, we are now located in El Cajon, CA and no longer use pallet wood as in those early years. We use construction grade 2x4s- Kiln dried real Pine wood to build our products.
