Community Highlights: Meet Gabriela Mazon of Gabbs_photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Mazon.

Hi Gabriela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as young as 17, straight out of high school, where I began photographing at my local church. I was in a small creative group where I was taught by leaders the techniques and storytelling of a photo. I would capture raw moments of different emotions and events where I photographed children and families of all ethnicities. This was the moment in time where I fell in love with capturing photos of people and interacting with all of them.

I then continued on this journey photographing as a hobby and building a community with friends who also enjoyed it as well. With this community, we traveled to different church creative teams where we got to connect with other photographers and learn off of each other.

I slowly then started picking up on side gigs for family and friends while being self-taught the skills and ethics of the photography world.

I then got hired to work as a photographer for Lifetouch and continued pursuing my side gig on the weekends.

Shortly after this I was mentored by my dear friend Alyssa Famoso, who has taught me and has walked with me through this journey of building my own business. I then got to shadow with my mentor (or should I say “teacher” as we always laugh about it because we are the same age and it always makes her feel old) two different photoshoots, from maternity’s to now weddings.

As of today, I am learning to branch out on my own picking up weddings and other mini-Photoshoots for families, events, and special milestones.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road as it’s been a bunch of ups and downs. Some struggles I’ve had along the way while building this business have been juggling school, working full-time, and helping take care of our household. I have had to put my business on hold so many times, leading to not giving my 100 percent.

With that said, with the difficulties it’s had, it’s also been rewarding every time I have the opportunity to dive into it.

Each moment I’ve been able to dive in again it has been a blessing to meet new clients, work alongside new people who teach me new things, and have had the support of loved ones around me who have patiently given me their time as I continue to grow.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Gabbs_photography ?
I’m an enthusiast photographer who specializes in family portraits. What sets me apart from everyone else is the love I have for my clients.

I’m a photographer who strives to be affordable for all clients.

I am most proud of the fact that I get to see the product of my work, brighten the smiles of my clients who thought they couldn’t be photogenic.

I would want your readers to know that even though I specialize in family portraits, I also photograph for many other moments, events, and milestones.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5-10 years, I see my industry growing into a studio and having my own space to call my own while sharing it with other photographers to be creative.
