Community Highlights: Meet Tiffany Gil of Shezza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Gil

Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started this business because of the excruciating pain from breaking in my beloved Doc Marten boots, which left me with horrible, bloody blisters. Realizing over 70% of Americans suffer from similar foot blisters, I knew I had to find a solution. My mission became simple—create an easy solution that lets people wear any shoe comfortably.

My entrepreneurial journey truly began when I transferred to San Diego State University and joined all 3 of their entrepreneurship programs. With the support of mentors and resources, I successfully launched my business after 3 years.

Social media played a crucial role in our success, as our unique product went viral on TikTok and Instagram. Our videos about blisters from Doc Marten boots and Adidas Sambas resonated with many, reaching millions of views. These viral videos changed my life, and I am eternally grateful for the power of social media. One of our most viewed videos has 12 million views.

Entrepreneurship is my greatest passion. My mom used to have her own hair salon and my dad still has his own auto body shop. Growing up in a family of small business owners, I was taught that with the right tools and hard work, anything is possible. I’ve also worked at three startups under serial entrepreneurs, learning invaluable lessons and wearing many hats.

Through my business, I aim to make a significant impact on others and the environment. We provide valuable internship opportunities for students just starting out their careers and use 100% sustainable packaging to leave the smallest carbon footprint. Creating a business with meaning and positively impacting people is what inspires me every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Creating a business from the ground up has been anything but smooth. It’s taken over 10 years from the initial idea. The biggest challenge was internal—battling self-doubt. As a young college student trying to start a business with no professional experience, I often felt overwhelmed and lost. But with the right people, resources, and determination, things have turned out better than I ever imagined.

I’m incredibly grateful for all the people who have helped me along the way. It’s my mission to be a guide and source of inspiration for other aspiring entrepreneurs in the midst of figuring it out.

Our current challenges include scaling the company and increasing brand awareness globally. We’re eager to take on these challenges and are open to raising funds to expand our team and marketing efforts.

Another hurdle has been finding a manufacturer with low minimum order quantities to test different colors with our customers. We’re exploring various potential manufacturing locations to find a flexible supplier.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Shezza?
Founder highlights:
One of my proudest moments was being featured on Amazon Prime’s “Buy It Now” show—think of it as Amazon’s new version of Shark Tank—with big celebrity judges like Gwyneth Paltrow, Tony Hawk, and the Ring doorbell founder. I won my episode and the $20,000 grand prize. Check out my entrepreneurial journey on Episode 11 of “Buy It Now” on Amazon Prime Video!

About the brand:
Shezza is a fast-growing, viral company that invented the first foam-padded socks to prevent heel blisters. Each pair has a small foam cushion sewn onto the inside heel area, creating a soft barrier between the foot and the friction area where new shoes tend to rub. With double-padded technology, they provide the best comfort by preventing the heel from being exposed to the shoe.

The foam cushions are sweat-proof, breathable, machine-washable, and dry-able. Shezza offers a simple, one-step solution to protect against heel blisters and discomfort from uncomfortable shoes. By wearing our socks, you’ll have greater confidence in your footwear, knowing each step will be pain-free, allowing you the freedom to wear whatever shoes your heart desires.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories that sparked my love for entrepreneurship was running lemonade stands every Fourth of July in my hometown, Huntington Beach. The annual parade brought thirsty and hungry people to my stand, and I’d spend the morning preparing lemonade, brownies, and cookies. By the end of the day, making $150-$200 as a 10-year-old was incredibly motivating. It showed me I could create my own opportunities and taught me business basics.

Another cherished memory was catching caterpillars with my grandmother and watching them transform into butterflies. Seeing their metamorphosis taught me to appreciate nature and wildlife, no matter how small. Some butterflies were so special and I “trained them” to land on my finger, creating beautiful memories. It was always bittersweet when I would release them to live on their own. These moments helped me notice and appreciate all living creatures, no matter how small and reflect on my own transformation as I grew older
