Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Martin
Hi Dave, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2006, Chef Dave Martin burst onto the culinary
scene with ‘Bravo’s Top Chef,
’ showcasing his talent
and winning over audiences. By 2019, he had
become a global flavor expert, known for authentic
dishes at New York spots like Chama Mama and
Dalup.
Beyond his restaurants, Dave consults for industry
giants like ConAgra and PepsiCo, staying at the
cutting edge of culinary trends. He has developed
recipes and launched products for brands like KFC
and Bertolli. Dave also leads a successful events
division, creating memorable culinary experiences
for corporations and institutions.
Dave’s TV appearances include ‘Chopped’ and
‘Cutthroat Kitchen.
’ In May 2022, he released ‘The
Tequila Diet,
’ a cookbook celebrating Mexican
cuisine and tequila. He returned to TV in fall 2023
on Food Network’s ‘Battle of the Decades.
’

advocates for healthy cooking with fresh
ingredients, continuing to inspire and lead in the
culinary world.
In June 2024, Dave finally joined the bandwagon on social launching his video cooking and travel series on all platforms (Instagram reels & threads, TikTok, YouTube, FB and more-all links in article). Traction has already started in the marketplace and he’s booked his first paid creator spot and one of his reels hit over 100k views on Instagram & TikTok. He is super excited about sharing his tips, tricks and techniques on how to be a better cook at home.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In 2020, I lost everything in the dot.com market crash as I had my own technology recruiting company that went belly up and I had to file a personal BK and that was hard from easy. I had to liquidate all of my assets and do a complete reboot and switched to cooking and overcame what was a really tough situation.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional chef and culinary consultant that has an event division along with a restaurant and food brand consulting focus. I specialize in global flavors and cuisines from around the globe along with formal culinary training and from spending 13 years in the culinary trenches in NYC. I moved back to Sunny Southern California in August 2019 and I’m happy to call San Diego my home for the past five years.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
It’s never easy pursuing your passion and it honestly takes a lot of hard work, dedication and love. But if it’s meant to be and you are willing to put in the time it can be amazing but it can be draining mentally and physically so be ready for it. The journey to self discovery is a long one and can continue evolving as it has for me from tech to food and now blending the two together with my social media and food merger. Stay the course and make it happen- Don’t give up.
