Daily Inspiration: Meet Gheed Samari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gheed Samari.

Gheed, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I came to the United States as an immigrant with very little — no money, no connections, limited English, and no clear roadmap. Like many people starting over, I took the opportunities I could find and began working as a cashier at a small supermarket. At the time, survival came before ambition, but even during those early years I knew I wanted to build something meaningful and creative.

Over time, I became drawn back to design through my background in architecture and my growing appreciation for the emotional impact spaces can have on people. I pursued luxury kitchen and interior design and slowly worked my way into the industry through persistence, learning, and hands-on experience. What started as an interest eventually became a true passion and career path.

Today, my work is centered around minimalist luxury design, blending natural materials like stone, wood, and metal to create spaces that feel calm, refined, and intentional. I’m especially inspired by the connection between beauty and functionality — how thoughtful design can influence the way people live, move, and feel within a space.

Looking back, my journey has been less about a straight path and more about resilience, reinvention, and trusting that even small beginnings can lead to something meaningful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Starting over in a new country came with a lot of uncertainty and pressure. One of the biggest challenges was arriving with no money, limited English, and no understanding of how to navigate life or build a career here. There were moments where survival and stability were the main focus, and it was difficult to imagine how I would eventually find my place in the design industry.

Another challenge was rebuilding my confidence while adapting to a completely different environment and culture. Coming from an architecture background, I always had a passion for design, but breaking into the luxury interior and kitchen design world required persistence, patience, and continuous learning. I had to work my way up step by step, often proving myself in spaces that felt unfamiliar at first.

There were also emotional challenges — balancing ambition with uncertainty, learning to trust my own creative voice, and staying motivated even when progress felt slow. But looking back, those experiences shaped both my perspective and my design philosophy. They taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of creating spaces that bring a sense of calm, beauty, and intention into people’s lives.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an interior and kitchen designer with a background in architecture, specializing in luxury residential spaces that feel both refined and deeply personal. My work focuses on creating environments that balance functionality, elegance, and emotional connection — spaces that not only look beautiful but also improve the way people live and experience their daily routines.

I’m especially drawn to minimalist luxury design and enjoy working with natural materials like stone, wood, and metal to create spaces that feel calm, warm, and intentional. I pay close attention to flow, proportion, and the small details that shape how a space is experienced emotionally, not just visually. Kitchens are a major focus of my work because I see them as the heart of the home — where lifestyle, functionality, and human connection come together.

Over time, I’ve become known for my thoughtful design approach, attention to detail, and ability to truly listen to clients and translate their lifestyle into spaces that feel timeless and authentic to them. I value creating designs that feel elevated without losing comfort or livability.

What I’m most proud of is the journey behind everything I’ve built. Starting over in a new country with no money, limited English, and no clear path taught me resilience, adaptability, and discipline. Every step in my career came through persistence, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for design.

What sets me apart is the combination of my architectural background and personal life experiences. I approach design not only from a technical and aesthetic perspective, but also from an emotional one. I understand how deeply environments can affect the way people feel, move, and connect within their homes, and that perspective shapes every project I work on.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that surprises people is that I’m actually very observant and quiet in real life. I don’t always express everything outwardly, but I notice a lot — details, emotions, energy in a room, and how people interact with their surroundings. That sensitivity is a big part of why I connect so deeply with design.

On a more personal level, I also value simplicity in my own life more than people might expect. Even though my work is in luxury design, I’m drawn to calm, minimal environments and meaningful routines rather than anything overly loud or excessive. I think that balance between who I am personally and what I create professionally is what keeps my work feeling authentic to me.
