Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Dean, M.D..
Hi Kristin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family…
I grew up in Fort Pierce, a small beach community on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. I went to Undergraduate and Medical School at the University of Florida. When I completed Medical School, I knew I wanted to experience a new area of the country and California had always been a place I wanted to live. I ended up matching at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, California and that is when I knew I was a California girl at heart. I have been in Southern California for the last 15 years and moved to San Diego in 2013, after graduating from residency. I love the beach and being near the ocean has always been important to me, so San Diego has been a perfect fit.
I have a daughter, currently in the fun, wild, and sweet stage of toddlerhood. I also have a partner, her father Nick, and 2 small chihuahua-yorkie mixes, who were my first babies.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now… (where did you go to school, what has been your career path)?
After medical school, I trained in Family Medicine. Family Medicine training offered the ideal focus on procedures, holistic wellness, and aesthetics. Being in Los Angeles, there was no shortage of aesthetics and I was lucky enough to train under an experienced aesthetic physician while I was in residency. I knew then that my dream was to open an aesthetic and wellness practice. After graduating, I moved to San Diego and continued to practice in the aesthetic industry as well as family medicine. My career took an unexpected turn when I was offered a position in the newly emerging field of telemedicine and I took on a leadership role in a large telemedicine practice.
When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I knew it was time to change my path. I couldn’t travel and be away from home while being the Mom that I wanted to be for her. That’s when Glomi Wellness Lab was finally born. Being a Mom to my daughter, Mila, is my first love; and Glomi Wellness Lab is my second.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning your own business has its ups and downs… just like learning how to be a mom or a physician, I find that I learn something new from Glomi everyday!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What is unique about your business, Glomi Wellness Lab (what sets you apart from the rest)?
Glomi Wellness Lab was created to provide high-end, results-driven care in the comfort of your home, blending science with artistry to help clients achieve natural, confidence-boosting results. We took the traditional medical spa visit and curated a unique, luxe experience in the comfort of your own space.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice (whether general or specific) can you offer to the residents?
Glomi Wellness Lab was founded on the belief that outer beauty reflects inward. What this means is that incorporating self-care in the form of aesthetics—such as a daily skincare regimen, skin‑rejuvenation, body‐contouring, or injectables—can help patients see their progress reflected in the mirror, reinforcing motivation, self‑esteem, and overall engagement with one’s health. Through the combination of a healthy lifestyle, medically supported weight management, peptide therapy, and targeted aesthetic treatments; Dr Dean produces a truly transformational outcome—anchored in wellness.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe that tomorrow is not promised and due to that, I always want to take every opportunity given to me. The biggest risk I have recently taken is launching my own business, Glomi Wellness Lab. It has been such a rewarding experience and I cannot wait to see where the business leads me.
