Today we’d like to introduce you to Levina Capunpun
Hi Levina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I used to be a panda collector and had a page dedicated to my panda finds. During covid, my panda page turned to a post crossing exchange where I would collect panda postcards from all over the world and get to know tidbits from the peoples’ lives when we exchanged. In 2022, I found out I was pregnant and I mostly stayed home because I was always not feeling well but, I knew I wanted to do something. I didn’t want to just stay home and do nothing. I took a break from my post-crossing journey so I could help out and learn to do marketing for Homestyle Hawaiian in Pacific Beach. It was a new journey for me into something that I had never done before. I started reaching out to influencers using my panda page but to be more professional I made a new food blogging account which is “lepandapiggy”. I am a foodie myself, but mostly kept it to myself, family, and close friends. I also like to travel so I could try out different food in different states/countries and the farthest I’ve been was China. As I got to know local foodies in San Diego, I realized that I do enjoy sharing my foodie journey too. My main focus is for Homestyle Hawaiian Pacific Beach to grow, which it did. We both grew and now, I also run a community page called “lecubssocal” for local SD foodies that expanded to OC/LA where we connect with and support other content creators of all niches!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, I would have to say kinda? Aside from being a foodie, I am a new mom so all of the usual problems that come with that. At some point I also wanted to expand my page to include baby/kids products and doing fun things with my daughter, Bella. I got rejected at the start but I kept applying and eventually a milk warmer company gave me a chance and that opened so many opportunities for my family like going to Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo, and getting diapers which has been a huge help. Another thing that I could think of is running a community page, I want to do monthly meet ups where we support a local family business in SD, but it’s been so rough trying to align everyone’s schedule so I have not achieved that goal yet. But, I’m going to keep trying so we can build closer relationships within the group while supporting new and old family businesses in SD and eventually OC/LA too.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.
I’m a foodie mom as well as a social media manager. I am known as the girl that loves pandas and always eating out and will travel for good food!
What are you most proud of?
I was able to niche out and do other things aside from restaurants/food like working with cherry for a gaming keyboard, mic, headset and mouse last year. Being hosted by theme parks/attractions for my family to go like Sesame Place San Diego, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Birch Aquarium, and more. Lastly, I was able to do a collab for a car meet called cars and pizza in Rancho Bernardo. That was very cool to do!
What sets you apart from others?
I’m more about building a community amongst creators to help each other out and also supporting smaller family businesses with good food.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Rejection is part of growing so don’t be discouraged when you get rejected or a PR/marketing company didn’t reach out to you for a media event. Don’t do what everyone else is doing. Be unique. Be you. Do what works best for you and your family. Don’t think of it as a competition as there are so many opportunities out there for everyone.
