Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Sanchez.
Hi Viviana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! Thanks for having me! My name is Viviana Sanchez, I’m originally from Mexico, but San Diego has been my home for the last 22 years, which I love! I’ll tell you something about my life… Ever since I was a child, I remember always being physically and mentally active, from playing outside with my friends to explore mastering sports; I’ve tried from softball, basketball, volleyball to ballet, aerobics, spinning, yoga, and tons more. Movement has being a constant throughout my life. After taking time off to settle and start a family, I started noticing the important role that exercise had in my life to keep me balanced, not only physically and mentally, but also emotionally.
So, I went back to working out every day and also started doing research and studying health and wellness throughout. I’ve learned how our body responds to physical stimulus, its miraculous way of self-healing, and how powerful our minds are.
Now I feel I’ve reached a point where I can share my life’s experience and knowledge while I constantly grow with our community to promote health and wellness as a way of life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh boy! Would I dare to say that my life has been flawless? Of course not! Who can say life’s a constant flat line? Life is anything, but still, it is more about change, the highs, and the lows. I would not be the person I am today if there weren’t any setbacks. I am not trying to “glorify” the downhill moments, BUT I find myself amazed by how strength, resilience, and focus have given me more long-term achievements and pleasure than the goal itself. Results are my “cherry on top.”
I will say this though: to stay focused, optimistic, and self-reassured have played a huge role on how I approach life now. I used to be very hard on myself; my perfectionism would cloud my mind filling it with self-doubt, criticism, and negativity. Now I celebrate every small step/choice I take towards a healthier state, and I’m not hard on myself upon my choices if some have not been aligned with my purpose.
I’ve realized that as long as my emotions and thoughts are aligned and healthy, my body feels at home.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a proud host and creator of a Health and Wellness related social media account called HealthLab Workshop, which shares the most relevant and updated information to our community. We have had the honor of interviewing exceptional health and wellness leaders and specialists who share with us their knowledge and let me ask openly all the questions we have about specific issues and subjects.
I am a certified personal trainer, yoga teacher, energy medicine practitioner, and mindfulness coach (with some other certifications), so this also allows me to offer our community curated workshops about consciousness, overall health, and mindful experiences, either hosting them myself or collaborating with other specialists in the field; like detox programs, mindfulness retreats, forest baths, among others.
I see myself not as a leader but more so as a teammate because to me, joining forces is much more powerful than carving a path alone if we share the same goal, which is to plant the seeds of well-being within our community.
We at HealthLab Workshop honor each person who every day chooses to live life to its fullest potential, even if that means taking a day to rest. Honoring stillness if your body needs it, is as valuable as having a sweat session.
The most important thing is to listen to your body and acknowledge that movement does not only represent physically, but changing your mindset and flowing through emotions is also moving yourself from one place to another.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Ha! If you want a more accurate description of myself, then you would like to ask my parents, but on a personal point of view, I’ve always considered myself a curious human being. I feel my intuition is sometimes supernatural, so I was always observing, mentally documenting all the details, an avid and constant learner in a practical way (Books sometimes get me sleepy); I’m all about the sensorial experience.
You would find me in a room full of adults listening to their grownups’ conversations, taking mental notes, so I could ask all the uncomfortable questions, but also getting my hands dirty when it came to exploring outside.
I am a pacifist at heart and activist by choice; I always like to have my favorite people around (family and friends), but I also enjoy my time in solitude: I’ve made peace with myself.
You’ll find me working out, laying out in the sun, or near the ocean.
