Exploring Life & Business with Carol Morgan of Lagree Lounge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Morgan.

Hi Carol, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started taking Lagree classes back in 2018 and absolutely fell in love with the method. It quickly became something I was deeply passionate about, and in June 2024, I decided to take the next step and get certified to teach.

One day, while walking down Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach, I noticed a “Now Leasing” sign in a storefront window and called the agent on a whim—no business plan, no concrete plan, just an idea in my head. At the time, the space had already been leased, but a couple of months later the agent called me back saying the tenant was moving out of state and asked if I was still interested. From there, everything happened fast! I created a business plan, ran projections, and put in the work to make it happen.

Throughout the whole process, I think I was told “no” at least six times by landlords, loan officers, and pretty much everyone in between. But I kept pushing through and never gave up. It sounds cliché, but truly, never give up. The day I was supposed to get funding from the SBA, I was told they made a mistake and I wouldn’t be able to get the loan for the equipment and build-out. I decided to put all my savings into this and brought on an angel investor who believed in me from the very beginning and it all worked out. Looking back, it feels like a blur, but it’s been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life.

Fast forward to today- We’ve officially been open for four months and have already built such an incredible community in the heart of PB. We started with 29 classes a week and now we’re at 44. It’s been surreal watching the studio grow so quickly and seeing people connect, get stronger, and fall in love with the Lagree method just like I did.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Heck no! It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! From getting told “no” by landlords, loan officers, and pretty much everyone in the beginning, there were moments I truly thought Lagree Lounge wouldn’t open this year. Then, after we finally signed the lease, we found out our MegaPro machines were going to be delayed due to tariffs.

Thankfully, Lagree HQ was amazing and lent us Mini Pro machines so we could still open. It was definitely a learning curve. We even had a senior master trainer from HQ come down to host a workshop so our instructors could all learn how to teach on equipment none of us had used before. In the end, we got incredible feedback from our clients and I truly believe that having to pivot and adapt made us stronger instructors.

Now, we have 10 brand-new MegaPro machines- the latest Lagree equipment with tilting panels and we’re proud to be the only MegaPro studio in Pacific Beach!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lagree Lounge is a boutique fitness studio in Pacific Beach specializing in the Lagree Method: a 45 minute high-intensity, low-impact workout that focuses on strength, endurance, and cardio. What makes Lagree Lounge unique is that we’re one of the few studios in San Diego offering classes on the newest MegaPro machines, which has a tilting feature, so the panels on the carriage and platforms tilt up!

Our classes are designed to be challenging yet welcoming. Every movement is intentional, and every instructor is committed to helping clients feel stronger both physically and mentally. We’re known for our attention to form, upbeat atmosphere and playlists, and community-focused energy. Whether it’s your first Lagree class or your hundredth, our goal is to make you feel challenged, empowered, and motivated from the moment you walk in.

What sets us apart is that we’re a smaller boutique studio with only 10 Megaformers, which allows our instructors to truly focus on each client’s form and alignment throughout class. That smaller setting creates a more personalized experience where clients get hands-on attention, detailed cues, and real-time adjustments

I’m most proud of our clients. When we first opened, most of our members had never taken a Lagree class before, and watching their transformation has been incredible. Seeing their form, confidence, and strength evolve from that very first class to now has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. It’s not just about physical change- it’s about mental growth, discipline, and self-belief. Watching our clients become stronger both physically and mentally is truly the heart of what Lagree Lounge is all about.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is performing for the first time at a talent show in school. I’ve always loved singing, so stepping on that stage was such a thrill. Looking back, it’s funny how things have changed- now I channel that same excitement and energy into teaching group fitness classes on the mic and running my Lagree studio. Just like performing, teaching and leading classes is about connecting with people, inspiring them, and creating an experience they love.
