Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Purbaugh.
Hi Chris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
SC Water Transport is a family owned and operated San Diego water truck. We started out with the desire to assist CalFire and the US Forest Service during fire season as a Water Tender. Bringing water to the fire line and helping to save the forest. Recently we worked on the border fire. We also use our water truck for construction. Hauling water to the job site for soil compaction is common for us in between fires.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Without any previous knowledge on how to drive or work a water truck, there was defiantly a learning curve. Obtaining a special license to operate the truck was a challenge, and learning to do our job correctly came from experience. Although it is a difficult and dangerous job, it’s very rewarding.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a San Diego water truck service. We specialize in soil compaction, dust control, pool filling, and storage tank filling. We are also a Wildland Fire Water Tender. Our water truck is different from others. It is specially equipped with a powerful PTO pump which allows us to draw water directly from a lake or stream and deliver to firefighters on the fire line.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have found that the best way to network is to simply pick up the phone, make calls, and offer your services.
