Hidden Gems: Meet Arielle Mesa of Sacred Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Mesa.

Hi Arielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My business, Sacred Space, was a vision I had cultivated over many years of working on myself and supporting others in both a personal and professional manner. I knew for a long time my purpose and role in this world were meant to be oriented around serving others. Since I was a child, I have faced a lot of psychologically and emotionally heavy experiences. Despite the weight of these experiences, I always managed to find a way to persevere and even thrive in the face of these trials and tribulations. Transmuting pain and struggle into energy that guides me to grow and evolve is something I feel comes naturally to me. I have explored many different avenues and modalities to nurture this ability and support my own healing from the challenges I have faced in my life. I am very grateful to my father, my first teacher, for expanding my awareness to a wider spectrum of what it means to take care of our health and well-being from non-Western approaches. My journey with the healing of and from my humanity and supporting others throughout my life have ignited a deep passion for helping folks to navigate their unique path back to themselves. I founded Sacred Space to be a container to support that process and that work.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I founded Sacred Space on the cusp of some pretty big life initiations and shifts. While I knew that founding Sacred Space was something I wanted for myself and envisioned creating for a long time, the timeline in which everything came together felt unexpected. It felt as if the universe itself created an immense level of tension and constriction within my life to push me forward to create Sacred Space. Navigating what it meant to start the business while experiencing a great deal of loss in my life felt like a big challenge to overcome. The process of learning the ins and outs of running of business during that time was difficult, and for most of it, I felt like I was learning as I went. I’m grateful to have had such a strong support system of colleagues and friends who were navigating this process too, which definitely helped mitigate the overwhelm. Once I found my groove within the routines and practices of Sacred Space, things felt much smoother. I was finally able to sit back more and absorb the reality that Sacred Space was this expansive opportunity for me to create, grow, and support the healing of the collective. While there are still definitely undercurrents of stress that come with working for myself, I have and continue to feel the most at peace and aligned with the work I do to support others in healing themselves.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sacred Space is a holistic, trauma-sensitive wellness practice centered on supporting folks through the journey of self-transformation and self-reclamation. My practice serves as a grounded, and intuitive space for people to heal their roots by bringing particular awareness to each person’s lived experiences, intersectional identities, and ancestral lineages. Sacred Space approaches the process of healing from an eclectic, multidimensional lens, centering not only on the mind but the body, emotion, and spirit. From this multidimensional perspective, I intentionally infuse western psychotherapeutic modalities with healing practices from other cultures and teachings, including Curanderismo, Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, Hatha Yoga, sound healing, and Earth medicine. Folks often connect with me to unpack and renegotiate their connection to patterns of conditioning and living that have become outdated or consistently more and more challenging to carry over time. This desire usually comes from a deeper calling to reconnect with and remember who one authentically is. I specifically work with people seeking to heal wounds related to developmental trauma, sexual and domestic violence, and complicated grief and bereavement. I also support folks who are infusing plant medicine into their healing process by serving as trusted support and guardian through the preparation and integration phases of their journeying.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor is to lean into spaces and experiences that feel supportive and nurturing to you not only professionally but personally. A big part of finding mentors that feel nurturing to where we are and supportive of our growth is leading with what we feel we need, not what we think we need. I have met my mentors thus far by committing to my own healing. Allowing my internal needs as a person guide me to spaces that promote my well-being has opened the door to forming transformative and life-changing relationships with my teachers who have supported me in growing personally and subsequently professionally.
