Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Velez
Rosie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2005 I stopped making excuses and began working diligently towards a commitment of health consciousness. I enrolled in a Fitness Specialist Program at San Diego City College. Based on course lessons, I practiced healthy eating habits and a solid workout routine. It took me six months to lose 30 pounds and a year to build muscle mass. In 2007, I entered my first figure competition and took first place three times in a row. As a result, I treasure each moment to promote healthy alternatives to help others struggling with weight loss. During this time, I graduated from SD City College with my Fitness specialist certificate. In 2009 I opened up my first workout and dance studio in Bonita. In 2017 I relocated my studio to Chula Vista on third Avenue. I’m currently working now as a personal trainer, Dance Instructor and food coach. Watching others transcend to the next level in their fitness goals continues to inspire me and motivate me. I have lived their experiences, can share their frustrations and celebrate their accomplishments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
During my competition preparation, it was not always a smooth road do to strict eating habits and high intensity workout training. I experienced high and lows during this process. It wasn’t always fun waking up early hours to workout and eating the same food for weeks at a time. It was also very expensive paying for supplements and personal training sessions with my coach. But other than that, it was an amazing experience and I learned so much along the way that benefited me by building clientele and working with popular supplement brands such as VPX and 619 Muscle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The Covid crisis opened up new doors for me, by offering online classes such as workout routines with no equipment required and cardio dance classes you can do in the comfort of your own home. It showed me how essential and therapeutic Dance and Fitness is. Helped hundreds of people get through the pandemic.
