Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Goff.

Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Oaks is a Southern California retreat center that hosts in-house programming and private property rentals. Guests enjoy great food, modern accommodations, personalized hospitality, and thoughtfully curated experiences. Our stunning 240-acre property and flexible indoor/outdoor gathering spaces for people to enjoy. Lots of places have agendas, but our intention is simple: make the people who come feel loved. In your busy life, we know you need rest and a little margin to reconnect with the things that make life meaningful. We’ve created a property and a process to give you exactly that. The Oaks will be your backdrop for decades of life change, the birthplace for countless new adventures as you return season after season to create, rest, and celebrate.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, there’s COVID. Opening a retreat center during a pandemic sure has its challenges! But, it’s given us time to develop who we are as a staff and organization. It’s helped us dial into who we want to be and the type of programming and healing hospitality we want to offer. Starting small has given us a chance to really understand and get to know our guests. Although we anticipate a world where people will be back to gathering in big groups soon, we have really come to appreciate this small-batch, customized experience we offer with our Flagship Retreats.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Oaks?
We believe removing yourself from the daily demands of life from time to time to pay attention to your spiritual, physical, and mental health is one of the greatest gifts people can give themselves and the people around them. Our flagship retreat is an intentional break from your daily routine to rest, recharge, and reflect on the things that make your life meaningful. We anticipate the little things. The details that make our guests feel at home and special. Fluffy towels, blankets set out on the rocking chairs, greeting guests by name, creating nooks and crannies on our property for people to connect. We’ve tried to think of all the things that communicate love. Our team loves creating spaces for our guests to get what they need.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The Oaks has been a great risk, but a well-worthy one! Building beautiful places with a purpose is what we are about and people are worth that risk. Anything we can do to help people be better at whatever area of life they are working on is always worth investing in.
