Life and Work with Rachel Cosgrove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Cosgrove.

Results Fitness was opened in 2000 by husband and wife duo, Alwyn & Rachel Cosgrove who had worked as personal trainers at a number of gyms both in New York City and California. They opened Results Fitness out of frustration for the standards in the industry wanting to change the way fitness is done! They did just that and over the last twenty years have created a community unlike any other gym where clients come first. Twelve years ago, they started to help other personal trainers to open gyms and create the same type of culture and community as Results Fitness through their second company Results Fitness University.

Has it been a smooth road?
A year after opening 9/11 happened followed by a recession and then husband, Alwyn Cosgrove was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer four years into opening the business and started chemotherapy while Rachel Cosgrove took over the operations. His cancer came back a second time when he was admitted to UCLA for a Stem Cell Transplant and once again another recession. This is not to mention lessons learned with employees, business mistakes and other internal crises. Throughout this time Results Fitness managed to continue growing and helping more and more people.

We had systems in place that helped us to stand the test of having the owners stepping out for these personal medical emergencies. Advice is to get your systems in place. No matter what struggles, challenges or obstacles come along if you have your systems in place you’ll be more likely to withstand anything!

We’d love to hear more about Results Fitness.
We are known for being the best in the fitness industry creating customized strength training programs based on science. We have been named one of the Top Ten Gyms in the United States by Men’s Health Magazine and one of the Nations Best Gyms by Women’s Health Magazine. In addition, we have had our training philosophies featured on BBC World.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Decide what you want to do. Pick one thing and become the absolute best at it. Get tunnel vision and go after it.
