Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Gutierrez.
Douglas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I served in the Marine Corps for 6 years and I was transitioning out of the Marine Corps we had to attend a class for transitioning service members. At that class, I was taught about the VA loan on a Friday at 4pm (when we leave at 430pm) on how to use your VA Loan and they basically said Call the VA. I thought this is not the way it can be, So I took my Real Estate class and I moved to San Diego and the rest is history.
I started out with a small boutique company that invested a lot of time and resources into me. I took it all in, I learned everything I could from my point of view, what to do, and what not to do. It took me 6 months to help my first family purchase a home. I started as a solo agent no team, just myself and I dedicated everyday to real estate. I hosted 2-3 open house per month. I called over 1500 ppl per month and I “social distance” myself until I got a full understanding of how Real Estate work.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been smooth. I started as a solo agent. I found a small company that allowed me to engulf in Real Estate and I learned everything I could from my point of view, what to do, and what not to do!
Please tell us more about your work.
As a fellow Marine, the majority of my business is military and the VA Loan. I don’t shy away from FHA or Conventional I just gravitate toward the military demographic as we have a common bond. I understand what it takes and the sacrifice one goes through and I also used my VA loan so I know first hand on how to maximize the benefit.
My slogan is, “I served my country, now I serve my community and through that, I pride myself on my customer service skills and my negotiation skills. I remember when I bought my first and because of that I know the process and being prior military I understand the struggle and because of that I am able to provide unmatched service and the determination to have the best experience possible for each client and ensuring to reach my goal of helping every service member

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Three things so far.
1. Helping 50 families buy or sell real estate last year.
2. Buying a building to put my office in.
3. Being in a position to advise families on how to build wealth through real estate.
