Today we’d like to introduce you to Ely Sanchez.
Ely, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Elizabeth Sanchez but everyone knows me as Ely. I was born in San Diego, CA but I grew up in Tijuana, B.C. I moved to the United States when I was 19 to start a new life. I was raised by my amazing parents and my amazing family. Everything that I am, I owe it to them, every success and every step I have made is because of them.
I moved to Los Angeles, CA at 22 to pursue a career in Arts. I obtained a Graphic Design Degree from the Institute of Design and Merchandising with emphasis on Branding. I started painting and drawing at a very young age with the influence of my dad and my brother who were both Artists as I was growing up. I became a painter during my early 20’s (I am 32 now) and involved myself in the Art Industry to participate in exhibitions and art shows. I also had an interest in Dance so I started dancing in College and I am still very involved in the Dancing industry. I am now part of Dance Duet called Vigor Polerinas.
During all this time, I developed another passion, this passion helped me through the toughest moments of my life; My LOVE for MUSIC. It was then when I realized I needed to do something with this passion. I began going to music shows in TJ when I was 16. I had a group of friends that liked going to live shows and garage band shows. I met a lot of people in the Music Industry just by going to shows all the time. My circle of friends consisted of musicians, artists, singers, dancers and influencers in the industry. I took this opportunity as a calling, so I created The Local Music, which is a Music Media Company based in San Diego, CA. I am still working on my life goals and I have a list of them that I need to accomplish. I am thankful for all of the steps I have been able to take so far and I am ready for the next ones.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a bit difficult since I had to make big life decisions at a very young age. I knew I had the support of my family but unfortunately, it was never the best situation at home. My oldest brother (R.I.P.) struggled with addictions all his life and at times, it made our family fall apart. It was then when I knew I had to be strong for them, for myself and for my future.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
The Local Music is a Music Media Company, basically what we do in a nutshell is Music Shows, Music Videos and Concert Photography. We have participated in many music events here in San Diego, Tijuana and Los Angeles. We interview up and coming artists in the Music Industry, we take amazing photos of the musicians and singers at concerts and music festivals.
We also Direct, Edit and Create Music Videos for bands and artists. We write music reviews on new song/album releases and promote their music. It’s all about the music with us, we search for the talent and give it a platform to publish. What sets us apart from others is our extremely talented and dedicated team. Our team consists of a Professional Videographer who is also a Music Producer and a Recording Artist, a Professional Photographer who is also a musician and myself the Founder and Publicist of The Local Music.
What were you like growing up?
I was a very energetic girl. I went to five different schools and practiced four different sports. I loved Swimming, Soft Ball, Track and Basket Ball during my teenage years. I was outgoing but at the same time introverted, I had a very artistic mindset on everything. I always thought I was going to be an architect and I took some architectural design classes during my teenage years that I loved but I knew It wasn’t for me.
I loved drawing comic book characters and horses as a little girl. I always liked Freedom and feeling like I had no limits (I still like to feel this way) so I would fantasize of my own little world of free spirits and dancing and music. I always had a lot of friends and I was always surrounded by beautiful people and for that, I am extremely grateful with life for being so generous to me. I also loved my brothers and sister, they created so many beautiful memories of our adventures and experiences growing up.
