Meet Fabrizio BriKan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabrizio BriKan.  

Hi Fabrizio, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always liked singing. Since I was a kid, I remember singing in family reunions and preparing little concerts; I even had my “concerts shirt” for whenever I sang for them. I continued preparing myself and learning new things, and when I was 19, I went to study acting to Vancouver. I was there for a 6-months program. I’ve never been separated this long of my family and my people, so naturally, I started missing them, and to deal with this, I started writing songs, love songs. So now that I found what I wanted to write music about, it was just a matter of finding my sound cause a song is not only about the lyrics or the music, it’s about the interaction between both of them, almost like a dance, and I found that when I moved to Lo Angeles. I decided that I wanted to write music that sounded different and also sounded like me, so I started doing a combination between “Regional Mexicano” (also known as “Banda”) and pop. That’s how Miradas Agrias”, my first single, was born. After the amazing experience of recording it and sharing it, I decided to continue releasing music, and in February 14th, “Ta Cabrón” came out. It was very well received by the public, and it reached cities and countries that don’t even speak Spanish like the UK, Germany, Poland, Israel, among others. I’m very excited to keep doing music and sharing it with the world, and I’m actually working on an album right now that will come out in a couple months, so stay tuned for that. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy, for sure; there’s been a lot of self-improvement and learning. At the beginning, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do music, and believe me, I tried other things I liked, but every time music would drag me back because nothing moved me so deeply and felt so right like music did. And after realizing that music was my path, I discover how much I had left to learn, I had to learn how to accept and love what I wrote, and that lead me to a place where now that I know what I like I can improve and be the best version I can be. Nothing is gonna be easy at the beginning, even things that you do so naturally, almost like breathing, but easy won’t make you happy, it’s what you worked for what’s gonna make you celebrate the small achievements., 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a singer songwriter, and what I like to write about is love, all types of love. It can be romantic love, friends love, mother’s love, father’s love, and also heartbroken songs because I believe that there’s no broken heart that didn’t love before, it still comes from love. 

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’m very passionate about what I do, and I’m also very dedicated. There’s been days where I spend more than 15 hrs. in the studio, or sometimes I’m very tired, and I’m gonna perform somewhere, even then, I put my whole energy into it. I also consider myself a very positive person, I always see the glass half full, and I’ve learned to celebrate all the small victories and be very thankful.
