Today we’d like to introduce you to Hatungimana Didier.
Hatungimana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I first purchased my camera, I thought you just point and shoot but it wasn’t what I thought it was. I had to teach myself a few things, important things about my camera. So I did a little research on YouTube and it showed me all I wanted to know about photography. I got to know more about the lenses and the must-have lenses as a photographer.
Since I couldn’t afford the best lenses, I was mostly shooting random things outdoor using my kit lens until I was able to get my first best lens out there, the Nikkor 35mm f1.8g. I learned how to shoot by going out whenever I had a chance and take photos of random things: people, animals, landscapes, etc… I’m still doing the same thing as I want to get better. I have improved a lot and all was from going outdoor and shoot.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not having a better lens for the camera was a struggle because I couldn’t get nice photos in some situations. I couldn’t get great pictures in shady areas because my kit lens did not perform well in that kind of situation. During the daylight, that’s when I mostly used it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I photograph pretty much anything. Headshots, portraits, animals, especially birds, landscapes, Sunsets, etc… I am known for taking actor’s headshots and shooting beautiful girls portraits. I am most proud of how my clients always recommend other people to me, and I have photograph so many people that were recommended to me.
That’s definitely a good sign that I’m doing great. What sets me apart from others is that I charge less than anyone ever charges in photography. Some I even photograph them for free. All I ever wanted is to help others especially those who don’t have enough. There’s a lot of people who really want to be photographed but they just can’t afford it, so that’s when I come in.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It really depends on what you mostly like to photograph. I believe each city is great for photography businesses. I just started photography and San Diego has been the best place for me so far.
I would totally recommend it to any photographers out there but I think they should start where they are and move on later. Like I said it depends on what you like to photograph.
