Meet Jessica Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Moreno.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have a strong memory of a spending my summers in Rosarito Mexico at our beach house my abuela had the bathroom stocked with Paul Mitchell products. At that time PM was everywhere!! It was a treat for us to be able to get our haircut at a salon that used Paul Mitchell. I’ve always worked very well with my hands and have always been a visual learner. I actually use to cut my family’s hair in my teen years lol but when I had gotten older changing my image made me feel like I was shedding a new layer of skin. I felt liberated! Time went by, and one day I applied for Paul Mitchell the school San Diego and didn’t tell anyone till I started. I now do what I love, and it’s a true art. I’m a small business specializing in hair extensions and color! Having full control over my brand and having a such a cool clientele that come to me for my niche…I don’t deserve it 🥹

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I WAS NOT GOOD AT WHAT I SPECIALIZE IN. I remember four stylist coaching me when I was about to highlight a client’s hair for my first time in a real salon.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in lived-in color/dimensional blondes/blondes and hair extensions. Precision Is key, so I would say I’m known for my melty balayage color transitions and blendy money piece technique. Once I found what I liked doing, I thought how can I keep doing what I like? Branding!!! I get inspiration from fashion, architecture, art, I don’t have just one word for the feeling I try to create. But it’s definitely effortless and moody with a side of sassy.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m a single mother of two. Sometimes it can be a hard balance. This year was really hard for me. It’s important to keep yourself healthy so you can live a balanced life. I tell myself all the time you have to get through the bad part to get to the good part.
