Meet Jonabelle Hustoft of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonabelle Hustoft.

Hi Jonabelle , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At Le Petite Plates, we believe every gathering deserves to be elevated with a touch of culinary artistry. What began as a simple passion for hosting unforgettable celebrations quickly blossomed into a creative calling. During countless events with friends and family, I found that crafting charcuterie boards was ore than just serving food, it was about creating edible art that brought people together. With every board I assembled- featuring hand-selected artisan meats, gourmet cheeses, and fresh, vibrant accopaniments. I say how these creations sparked joy, connection, and conversation. They didn’t just complement the party-they became the centerpiece.
This magic moment, repeated time and again, inspired the birth of Le Petite Plates- a labor of love dedicated to transforming gatherings into memorable experiences, one beautifully curated board at a time. After a year and a half of heartfelt encouragement and special requests from loved ones, it became clear that my flair for custom charcuterie design wasn’t just a hobby- it was the foundation of something more. I realized that my unique, event-tailored creations had the power to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. And so. Le Petite Plates was born a business bulit on passion, creativity, and deep love for celebration life’s special moments with beautiful, delicious experiences

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
From the outside, Le Petite Plates may seem like it came together effortlessly, a seamess blend of creativity, flavor, and elegance. But like any meaningful venture, the path to building this business was far from smooth.
Starting something from scratch. especially something so perosnal came with its share of doubt and growing pains. Juggling personal responsibilities, I wore every hat, creative director, marketer, accountant and being a mother to two children. I also have a partime consulting job. It was exhausting, and at times overwhelming.
There were moments I questioned if I could make this work. If turning a passion into a business was even realistic. But with each challenge, I learned, adjusted, and grew stronger. And the support received from friends and family, and my earliest customers kept me going.
Today, every Le Petite Plates board tells a story not just of flavor and beauty, but of persistence, passion, and the journey of turning dreams into reality.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Before Le Petite Plates was even a dream, I had buit a career working for the county- structured, steady, and fulfilling in its on way. But everything shifted when I became a mother. With the arrival of my children, I made the difficultu decision to step away from my full time career to focus on raising them. It was a beautiful and challenging chapter. One filled with purpose, but also with a quiet longing to hold onto the parts of myself that thrived in creativity, organizationa and connection.

To stay engaged professionally, I began consulting part time. It allowed me to me to keep one foot in the working world while being present for my family. But something else was calling me- something unexpected and joy filled.

That’s when Le Petite Plates was born, not just a side hustle, but as a soulful business rooted in love, artistry, and connection

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has absolutely played a role in my life and business both good and the not so good.

Good luck showed up in the form of timing, the right people crossing my path a the right moments, friends and family who believed in me before I fully believed in myself and opportunities that seemed to come just when I needed the most-like a last minute event that became a breakthrough moment, or a client referral that truned into consistent business.

There were discouraging moments there it felt like things were unraveling no matter how prepared I was.
what I’ve learned, though, is that luck- good or bad only takes you so far. The real difference comes down to how you respond ot it. I’ve learned into wins with gratitude, and faced the setbacks with creativity and grit. it’s not always easy but I believe luck favors the prepared, the persistent, and the passionate
