Meet Katie O’Neal, Melissa Danekas, and Justine Bianca of PB Beauty Bar in Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie O’Neal, Melissa Danekas, and Justine Bianca.

Katie, Melissa, and Justine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We all had our own independent businesses where we mastered our crafts and built a solid clientele. After referring hundreds of clients to each other, we decided to join forces so our mutual clients could visit us all in the same space! We brainstormed for months trying to figure out what the perfect concoction was for everyone’s favorite one stop beauty shop. Somewhere nestled between spa and salon, we decided the term beauty bar perfectly embodies our offerings and vibe. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels like they’re hanging out with friends while receiving the best service possible.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although we feel exceptionally grateful for the growth and path of PB Beauty Bar, it has not been an obstacle free journey in the slightest. Our space was a yoga studio before it was ours. We fell in love with energy of the place but knew there was a lot of work to be done. We had to build three rooms and adjust the plumbing and electric to suit our needs. We didn’t anticipate all the time, money, or work that had to go into this. We couldn’t afford to not work, but also felt like we were inviting clients into a construction zone. It was a discouraging few months, but we couldn’t be happier with the transformation we made. We have had a really hard time balancing our work and personal lives. We end up working 7 days a week to be available to our clients. We’ve learned to let our hair down a bit, we just network while we party so we’re never off the clock! Transitions can be difficult but we are ridiculously blessed to have a rapidly growing client base.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PB Beauty Bar – what should we know?
We offer skincare, sugaring, tanning, hair, lash, and makeup services.
Justine specializes in hair extensions, smoothing treatments, and color.
Melissa specializes in facials and peels.
Katie specializes lash extensions and lash lifts.
Both Katie and Melissa specialize in Sugaring- an all-natural, safe and effective for of hair removal for body and face. They also specialize in custom airbrush tanning.

We feel that our little touches set us apart from everyone else. Complimentary microdermabrasion is included in every facial. Palms get wiped and setting powder is applied post spray tan to obtain a flawless glow. Lash aftercare is included with your extension set. Scalp massages accompany every hair service. Our fresh baked treats, mini bottles of wine, and hot towels post Brazilian are some client favorites!

We have an English bulldog, Tito. He’s our receptionist!

We are open 7 days and are always a phone call or text away when there’s questions or concerns. We go above and beyond for our clients so they’re always excited to come back.
