Meet Len De Wit of Kearny Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Len De Wit

Hi Len, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey as a personal trainer, but I quickly realized that while I could help my clients improve their strength and fitness, I wasn’t able to support them to my full capacity—especially when it came to injuries and movement limitations. That realization drove me to expand my knowledge, so I pursued a Doctorate in Manual Osteopathy. Combined with my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, this deeper understanding of the human body allowed me to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance.

With this expertise, I developed a unique training approach that helps clients go from injury recovery to full athletic potential—whether their goals are strength, aesthetics, or overall wellness.

In 2022, I launched Lionstrong Athletics, a private training and rehab gym in Kearny Mesa, San Diego. My mission is to help people not just recover but truly thrive in their fitness journey, combining science-backed rehabilitation with high-performance training.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has definitely had its challenges, but each one has been an opportunity to grow and refine my approach. Transitioning from personal training to integrating rehab and injury recovery required a lot of additional education and hands-on experience, but it was worth it because it allows me to help people in a much deeper way.

Starting and growing a business also came with its own learning curve—figuring out the best ways to structure training programs, build a strong client base, and create an environment where people feel supported in both recovery and performance. But I’ve always embraced these challenges as part of the process, and they’ve only made Lionstrong Athletics stronger. At the end of the day, seeing my clients progress and achieve things they didn’t think were possible makes every step of the journey worthwhile.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Lionstrong Athletics, I specialize in helping people transition from pain and injury to strength, athleticism, and looking and feeling their best. I combine my background in manual osteopathy and personal training to not only help clients recover but also build them into stronger, more resilient versions of themselves.

What sets me apart is my approach—I don’t just treat symptoms; I find the root cause of pain or dysfunction. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all method, I design individualized programs with targeted stretches and exercises that address the unique needs of each client. This ensures they don’t just recover temporarily but stay pain-free long-term. Once they’re ready to progress beyond recovery, I craft highly personalized strength and performance programs to help them reach their full potential.

What I’m most proud of is seeing my clients achieve things they never thought possible—whether it’s moving without pain for the first time in years, hitting a new strength milestone, or feeling more confident in their own body. Being able to bridge the gap between rehab and performance in a way that truly transforms lives is what drives me every day.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making a real impact in people’s lives—helping them break past limitations, overcome pain, and step into the strongest, most capable version of themselves. Seeing someone go from struggling with pain or feeling like they’re not at their best to becoming confident, powerful, and pain-free is what drives me every day.

It’s not just about physical transformation; it’s about helping people unlock their full potential—mentally and physically. I want my clients to walk away feeling strong, resilient, and unstoppable, knowing they’ve built a body that not only looks great but can perform at its peak. Helping people tap into that version of themselves—that strong, confident, and resilient mindset—is what fuels my work and my mission.
