Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Padron
Hi Luis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sure, I was born in San Diego but raised in El Paso, Texas. My parent’s got divorced when I was young so it was just my mother, sister and I for a long time. I learned at a young age that I enjoyed working with people so I got into sales after college. During that time I was waiting to get the medical waivers needed to join the Navy; I wanted to serve my country and be closer to the ocean. After 6 years of sales and at a dead end with the military, I decided to pack my things and just move to California to pursue fitness. San Diego made the most sense since it has beautiful beaches, world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a thriving market for health and fitness. Once here I worked multiple jobs as a coach at multiple gyms until the pandemic. I worked privately the whole time, building up my experience and education until June 2021 when I started coaching at Equinox in La Costa.
As the years have gone by my clientele has slowly shifted into mainly women, I guess all those years with my mom and sister taught me a thing or two about how to communicate with them ; ). I also have a deep fascination with psychology which has further expanded my knowledge and approach.
I decided to start building a remote coaching business that would allow me to travel to be with family and friends and give me the ability to control my time and freedom. I believe health is wealth: thus inspiring the name of the busines… Wellthywoman Fitness. My goal is to create and provide content online to educate and inspire the amazing women in our families that have sacrificed so much to keep us going.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. There has been so much growth from the challenges faced. Trying to get waivers for 6 years helped build a lot of resiliency after being told “no” so many times. Uprooting and starting over in one of the most expensive cities in the country was also a challenge. People would tell me I’d never make it in San Diego unless I was bringing in 100k, and somehow I made it with under 30k. Then came the pandemic and our gym shutting down. I remember sitting in my car in the driveway pulling my hair, wondering how the hell I was going to make it out of this one. I was determined to not only survive, but thrive and come out stronger.
We’ve been impressed with Wellthy Woman Fitness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wellthy Woman Fitness is where my 14 years of experience and six years of coaching women in their health and fitness journeys come together. We focus on the triangle; exercise, nutrition and recovery. I pay special attention to the hormonal system from getting stress (cortisol) levels down to programming lighter workouts the week before a period to avoid PMS. Before you ask, yes I track my girlfriend’s cycle so I know when to treat her and when to be gentle <3
Im a breath a fresh air; a guy that can shut up and just listen and not try to fix everything. I will ask you questions that nobody has asked and will empathize as you go through the challenges of life. I’ve even helped clients pass interviews.
I’m most proud of the content that has been coming out. It’ll be delivering the core messages in a different way than people are used to, so that it becomes “sticky” and applicable.
My ideal client is a 30-55 year old female that has some experience in fitness and is looking to structure things further. Because the service is remote there is a level of autonomy, although we do weekly facetime check ins and monthly calls. Using an app you will check off and write notes on workouts
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Having the right attitude; Having an optimistic state of mind
