Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Amiguet.
Caroline, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Caroline Amiguet (aka Sivertson). I was born in Paris, grew up in the French part of Switzerland, and I’ve been living in the USA for the past 20 years.
I spent my childhood in the magnificent Montreux Riviera in the French part of Switzerland, but I never lost my connection to France, where I would spend my vacations with family either in Paris, the South of France, Charente Maritime, or in Normandy. I’m a stage, film, and voice-over actor. I have also hosted and written the content for more than 20 travel videos for Brand USA/Visit the USA, in both English and French.
The film “Just Desserts” in which I starred marks my first foray into producing. Later I produced and starred in the indie feature film “Love All You Have Left”. I also co-produced and starred in Old Aquatics, a wonderfully written short play that performed first on stage and later turned into a screenplay with the collaboration of friends and the approval of the playwright. I guest starred on The Bold and Beautiful. My latest work includes my written and directorial début of a short play, “2 Weeks With Ma Mère,” that was produced at the Apolliad Theatre with Mesa College Theatre Company as part of its Festival of New Plays in the Fall 2022. I recently premiered my Solo Show “Pardon My French,” that I wrote and performed at Zephyr Theatre in Hollywood last Winter.
What’s Next?
I just wrapped up performing “The Red Lamp ” directed by Jennie Hamilton, a comedy play at Community Actor’s Theatre, along with a hilarious cast & crew. It ran for 5 weeks on weekends.
Recent film credits include: Locally filmed horror feature film “Everybody Dies By The End”, now available on digital platforms; “Cocktails with Nick And Lana”, a murder mystery film also shot here in San Diego, and a web series in French shot in Los Angeles called “Les idées reçues” (“The Perceived Ideas”).
I’m currently writing a web series inspired by my Solo Show.
I love meeting people from different cultures, authentic art, and life! I am a French, Swiss and an American Citizen. More info: www.carolineamiguet.com
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been nothing but incredible since I started acting in 2006. One of the biggest challenges has been having a French accent, as people often don’t really know what to do with me in America. I’m often offered cliché roles, but that being said, my accented English has also been my superpower. I’m proud to bring parts of my incredible culture and essence to this country. Being stereotyped has allowed me to explore my full artistry as I have to think outside the box. That being said, I’ve also been offered roles in which the filmmaker thinks differently about a role after seeing my audition and adapts the role to fit. I strongly believe that when the person’s energy is right and the work delivered is strong and free, an accent never matters because we all know better, really. Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu said it better: “Cinema is Universal, beyond flags, borders, and passports.”
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m goofy! I love to be creative, to learn, and I’m always looking for ways to tell stories and put myself out there. I strive and lean forward to great and free art. I’m known for being natural and reliable, for bringing value to productions, for my French accent, and at times, for being a bit intense – “Pardon My French” and I do not swear… At least rarely!
